AWS SaaS Partner

For partners who have particular expertise in building SaaS solutions using Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, end-users can now more easily locate them. The new Software-as-a-Service program hopes to make it simpler for end-users to develop such software using AWS’s public cloud architecture.

AWS, the largest public cloud service provider, recently announced the introduction of its SaaS Competency program, for ‘Advanced and Premier Consulting Partners.’ According to AWS, several partners have earned the distinction of AWS SaaS Competency.

This includes AllCloud, Cambridge Technology, ClearScale, Storm Reply, and Mission. Partners and organizations that obtain SaaS Competency are said to adhere to AWS best practices when they build SaaS offerings. These partners must further undergo technical validation by AWS Partner Solutions architects and exhibit ‘customer success’ to earn the distinction.

The title separates partners into two categories, design services, and builders. Design services are APN Consulting Partners who must show they can design, deploy, and integrate AWS support for SaaS applications. Building partners have to demonstrate they can develop multi-tenant software code for ‘Tier 1 SaaS applications.’ Judah Bernstein, Senior Partner Solutions Architect, AWS, and Oded Rosenmann, SaaS Business Lead, AWS, wrote in a recent blog post.

“Organizations are interested in software that is easy to use, implement, and operate. They are looking to reduce time-to-value and obtain access to innovative product features and flexible software procurement on consumption or contractual basis”

He continued, stating “As software vendors incorporate a SaaS delivery model, they can improve customer satisfaction, expand the market and global reach, increase agility and innovation, improve operational efficiency, and obtain economies of scale.”

IDC research suggests 72 percent of businesses across the globe now ‘strongly consider’ SaaS for new applications, migrations as well as during contract renewals. This shift to utilizing solutions built on the SaaS delivery model can create new revenue streams for software developers in UCaaS, CPaaS, and other SaaS-based industries.

According to AWS, APN Consulting Partners with years of experience in designing and building SaaS solutions on AWS must also meet several other advanced qualifications. In a statement, the company added “To qualify for the SaaS Competency, AWS Partner Solution Architects technically validate the architecture for each of the provided case studies, thought leadership materials, and consulting practice collateral.”

If you aren’t familiar with the SaaS structure, its a licensing and delivery model where the software’s centrally managed and hosted by a provider (in this case AWS) and available to customers on a subscription or a pay-per-use basis. The model extends a host of benefits to software vendors who integrate SaaS. For starters, they can improve customer satisfaction. Vendors can even expand their market and global influence.

Agility, innovation, improved operational efficiency, and the ability to scale are a few of the model’s other benefits. According to a recent report by Counterpart Research, Microsoft’s Azure leads the overall IoT platform landscape, AWS comes in at number two. IoT is an up-and-coming area, especially as more devices enter the cloud space. Increasingly, these tools get used to monitor, analyze, and enact institution-wide changes to impact bottom lines, manufacturing supply chain, and customer service initiatives.
