The workplace messaging app confirmed that customers are having “trouble connecting or using Slack”, as people around the world return to work after the Christmas break.
A message for UK customers, posted at 4:52pm GMT, said: “There are no changes to report as of yet. We’re still all hands on deck and continuing to dig in on our side.
“We’ll continue to share updates every 30 minutes until the incident has been downgraded.”
Customers may be experiencing issues connecting and using Slack at this time. Our team is currently investigating and we’re sorry for any troubles this may be causing. Please see https://t.co/hlhV4Z15g6 for updates.

Slack is yet to reveal what the issue is, but first addressed the fault at 3:14pm GMT.
It said on its status page: “Customers may have trouble loading channels or connecting to Slack at this time. Our team is investigating and we’ll follow up with more information as soon as we have it. We apologize for any disruption caused.”
All 10 subcategories on the status page, including messaging and calls, were displaying an error at the time of publication.
An update posted at 5:29pm GMT said that the issue is “largely still ongoing”, but Slack said that some customers may see the issue corrected after refreshing the app.
