Iain Sinnott is VP of Sales at Uboss, an organisation that extends a full API cloud management platform to BroadSoft users. The technology leverages a multi-level, vendor, and product approach, permitting platform owners, distributors, and resellers to choose from best-in-class applications like Akixi, Kakapo, Mondago, etc., to allow voice, meetings, and collaboration functionalities.

Sinnott said that this method also helps bolster BroadSoft’s place at the top of the cloud voice platform world. We recently sat down to talk about what was once the biggest name in virtual meetings – Cisco Webex, and he told me that “Webex became a falling star in the early days of the pandemic, quickly being overshadowed by the new kid on the block, Zoom.”

Sinnott continued, telling me that in terms of recognition in the video conferencing and collaboration space – Cisco lags behind the likes of Microsoft Teams and its associated products. As it stands, Microsoft does have a heads up on its competition, as many of its products penetrate deep into the commercial space. Most importantly is Microsoft Teams, which users gain free access to when they buy Microsoft 365 – its productivity suite.

He even argues that just because Webex has been a fixture of the corporate space for years does not mean that it is powerful enough to extend everything a small or mid-market business might need, however. Sinnott also feels that meetings, collaboration, and voice are three elements the company would benefit from beefing up.

“Cisco has BroadSoft, an undoubted voice Ace, and that is something sadly lacking in the other two leading propositions”

Sinnott continued, noting that as a product, virtual meetings and collaboration are what he calls ‘uncomplicated SaaS deliverables’ and describes them as ‘easily presented and consumed from a website.’ Sinnott noted that the voice element of Cisco Webex, especially when it comes to enabling the plainest of single line PSTN functionalities or full PBX functions, it is a different story. “We saw this new dynamic proposition, voice, meetings, and collaboration, as the natural evolution and as we all know a slow transition transformed into a massive leap forward last March,” he added.

Since Uboss launched its full API management suite that coincides with its four Webex for Broadworks packages, Sinnott said that he believes that this could make Cisco the most compelling and the easiest ‘complete’ solution for small and medium businesses to deploy.

“It could be a real game-changer in their head-to-head battle with Teams for this lucrative mass-market share”

I learned more about the streamlined deployment of Uboss technology, and it is as uncomplicated as it sounds. Uboss enables BroadSoft service providers to add the Webex products to a core voice user in a single click, a process that triggers the automatic building of PC, tablet, and mobile devices, presenting users with the software links for download.

Sinnott said it boils down to a simple point – with such a vast base of business users out there, many of which have business communications centred around traditional voice, making ease of deployment a must when it comes to ‘full digital transformation,’ Sinnott concludes.
