Globally established communications company, Snom, recently announced the arrival of beacon technology intended to deliver new applications for its DECT products. The technology will support asset tracking, live location insights and theft prevention.
The new M9B beacon gateways can register devices at close range (up to 15m) through Bluetooth, or by using tags, like the Snom M9T, then report their location. 4 antennas integrated into the receivers will allow for precise tracking of tags at all times, so companies can easily see where technology investments are. The information available from the tracking systems can be used to trigger alarms, or just show where a tag is through a phone display.
According to Snom, the beacon tech can integrate into existing telecommunications infrastructure to minimize costs and complexity. Users can access the functionality in care homes and hospitals, where there may be a need for a safe and functional system for locating mobile equipment. The same technology could be applied to logistics and building sites.
Tracking Communications Assets
The BLE standard feature within the Snom M9B beacons ensures that Snom’s technology is highly energy efficient. For instance, companies could use solar panels to power the mobile beacon use. Additionally, thanks to low radiation power, the beacons will not influence other infrastructure like DECT, WLAN, or mobile communications.
According to Channel Manager for Snom in the UK and Ireland, Lee Underwood, collaboration, and telephony aren’t the only things making up the infrastructure for telecommunications. There are also various other functions like alarms and tracking which need to be considered. Lee notes that customers turn to Snom for diversity, versatility, and reliability. The development of the new beacon technology helps to show companies that there are many benefits to using Snom devices.
The beacon technology now developed by the Snom brand has been regarded a highly professional and efficient solution, ready to adapt to the needs of the individual customer. Snom specialists are available on-hand to support projects and installations from idea through to completion.
