The hybrid work environment is now a reality. Unified Communications is transforming all aspects of work and play, from attending a virtual industry event, a team meeting, or taking some time to decompress with friends on a social chat. End users are ultimately expecting the highest quality, which is challenging to virtual technology developers.

As researchers continue to monitor and identify the mental stress of virtual communications, companies like Immersitech are partnering with technology providers to improve audio quality and relieve the mental strain experienced by the fatigue of hourly conference calls.

Immersitech SDKs are designed to integrate across different configurations of the communications stack to reduce background noise, improve voice clarity, and utilise spatial audio technology to emulate the meeting room experience while minimising outside distractions. The integration achieves this by identifying where an individual is and keeping the sounds congruent with the location of the person speaking. This allows the brain to listen to what is being said instead of compounding stress trying to place individuals in a location, ultimately streamlining and fine-tuning the overall mental experience of the event.

Speaking to UC Today, Immersitech CEO and Co-Founder Jim Poore said that spatial audio helps employees focus for extended timeframes and solves the problem of diminishing attention spans. “Recent studies have highlighted that engagement levels of employees throughout the week diminish significantly the more calls they are on,” said Poore.

“These engagement levels are a strong indicator of the expected productivity associated with each call and, in many cases, engagement levels of 25% or less were driving the need for even more meetings”

“There are a few key issues that drive engagement down, which is what Immersitech has been focused on addressing. Noise elimination coupled with voice clarity and immersive audio technology can reduce the energy-draining impacts of having multiple long calls and boost employee engagement. As a result, there is improved comprehension and understanding throughout the call which ultimately results in a more productive workforce.”

Easy Integration

The Immersitech EngageTM SDKs can be integrated by the service provider in multiple ways. Immersitech EngageTM can be placed on the mobile edge, in an app or web browser, placed in the cloud in the service provider’s core infrastructure, or deployed on-premise for applications that are purpose built.

Designed to be adapted to a number of different open source and proprietary systems, the Immersitech SDKs use streamlined APIs to manage audio handoffs and associated application data. The SDKs allow developers to quickly evaluate and start providing scalable, reliable, and enhanced services. They are flexible enough to enable the service provider to define the best deployment method instead of forcing it to be a specific way.
