RingCentral has released a wave of updates to its Message Video Phone (MVP) Platform.

Dynamics end-to-end encryption (E2EE) has been introduced for both ad-hoc and scheduled meetings, giving users the option to turn protection on or off when they say fit. The encryption works across mobile, desktop and web browser meetings.

The open beta programme for E2EE will start in September, with general availability pencilled in for October 2021.

RingCentral has also hit compliance with C5:2020, considered to be one of the strictest cybersecurity standards in Europe, for MVP and other Video and Engage solutions.

Nat Natarajan, Executive Vice President of Products and Engineering at RingCentral, said: “RingCentral is continuing to innovate at a rapid pace and we’re focused on providing the capabilities that organisations need to run and grow their business.

“We’re moving from a pandemic which challenged organisations’ basic ability to keep their people connected to a new era of organisational transformation, which requires highly integrated immersive video with team messaging and robust phone capabilities so people can be productive”

“Additionally, our focus on security gives customers the peace of mind that their communications are fully safe and secure and an open ecosystem that enables them to co-create solutions to meet their business needs of today and the future.”

App Add-Ins

RingCentral also announced the arrival of Add-ins, which allow developers to embed apps into the MVP platform. This lets users experience applications directly within RingCentral’s messaging app, rather than having to switch between different windows.

Add-ins will be generally available in mid-October and will exist alongside RingCentral’s existing App Gallery.

Meanwhile, RingCentral has launched an embedded dialler for Microsoft Teams, adding a second option to the firm’s existing cloud PBX integration to Teams. The dialler will be available in Q3.

Other updates include appearance touch-up, which lets users add “polish” to users’ skin; auto-framing to centre users no matter where they are on camera; and breakout rooms.

Appearance touch-up and auto-framing will be available by the end of the year, with breakout rooms set to be available next month.

RingCentral recently announced that its sales rocketed by over one-third in its financial Q2.
