Evolve IP’s platform flexibility has enabled partner Ascom to widen its portfolio of healthcare solutions.
Ascom primarily specialises in the health sector, particularly in the areas of acute and long-term healthcare, as well as enterprise. It provides real-time communications and collaboration to optimise workflow for healthcare specialists.
The duo initially partnered in the hospitality sector, before realising that their services could help digitise and modernise communications in the healthcare industry.
Oliver Newby, Partner Manager at Evolve IP, told UC Today that its relationship with Ascom has enabled partners to secure deals they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to secure.
“I’ve had a number of partners come to me because they were going to lose deals and other providers couldn’t help them,” he said.
“We’ve fortunately been able to win them that business because of our relationship with Ascom and this ability to offer support in many different areas, including healthcare. For example, one of our partners won a deal based on Ascom’s Nurse Call platform”
Ascom has built its solutions on Evolve IP’s platform, which offers voice over Wi-Fi for devices, as well as full-depth solutions. The solutions Ascom offers tackle some of the core challenges the healthcare industry faces in its digital transformation journey.
James Wright, Head of Channel at Ascom, said that digitalisation within the NHS is always a “hot topic”. It has recently won a seven-year contract with NHS Wales for the end-to-end implementation of Ascom’s Digistat clinical information system (CIS).
“The solution will enable intensive care staff across Wales’ 14 standard adult critical care units to manage electronically many aspects of care,” he explained.
“Previously, just three of Wales’ units used electronic systems from other suppliers, while the remainder used paper records. The new system will transform care digitally and give staff a single source of truth for patient information.”
Other Ascom solutions include point-of-care data access, which replaces the clipboard at the end of a patient’s bed with an enterprise-grade smart device, enabling the healthcare specialist to update the patient’s records from their bedside. It also offers a range of technology through smart collaboration via iOS or Android apps, Digitally Enhanced Cordless Telephony (DECT) and Wi-Fi phones. This solution is the answer to the government’s decree to remove all non-emergency beepers from the NHS, middleware for single-patient rooms that allows staff getting critical clinical data in near-real time from a single patient room to a mobile nurse.
“Built around three core pillars — Integrate, Orchestrate and Enable — the Ascom Healthcare Platform is unique: the only truly comprehensive, end-to-end communication and collaboration platform for long-term and acute care. For fifty years we’ve been pioneering healthcare communications. The Ascom Healthcare Platform builds on this bedrock,” Wright said.
Newby added: “We will deal with the voice side of things with our partners and work with them and Ascom to unlock the potential of that opportunity.
“Many partners stay away from these types of services because there’s no expertise, but we can bring in the experts.
“There are so many partners out there that have lost a lot of business because of those shut doors and that’s where us and Ascom come in. We’ve an incredibly stable platform and when that’s combined with Ascom’s devices and platform, it’s a match made in heaven. It’s all about unlocking those opportunities with partners.”
