During the summer, Zoom published a blog that speculated on the future of the workplace.

Although the conferencing provider could not predict the future, the blog did disclose that only one percent of Zoom users are in favour of going back to the nine-to-five, with half in favour of a hybrid setup.

Regardless of how businesses decide to move forward, it’s inevitable that more of our interactions will be over an internet connection. Companies must provide the best conditions for employees to ensure they are not burning out while on long video calls.

A critical factor of maintaining attention spans is the audio that employees experience when on these calls. We have all heard the rather unfortunate effect back-to-back meetings have on productivity.  Businesses can change this with easy-to-integrate software development kits (SDKs) that take advantage of different audio outputs to mimic a meeting room experience whilst employees are sitting at their kitchen tables.

Speaking to UC TodayTamara Prabhakar, Product Development Analyst at Immersitech, said installing audio software is not complex.

“Integration complexity can vary a lot based on support capabilities. Audio integrations are fairly simple to implement,” said Prabhakar. “A highly customised application may be more complex, but overall, lots of commercial offerings and even open-source packages have detailed, helpful documentation and easy instructions for how to use and integrate audio software.

“This translates to a more satisfied end-user with the enhancements providing a much better user experience with less background noise and improved voice clarity. “

Working Together

Audio improvement technology is developed for virtual platform developers with the end-user in mind.  They are modular and easy to use. Developers don’t need to spend time on coding, simply use existing modules with a few modifications. Since the technology is developed with the end-user in mind, companies like Hopin, Slack, Discord, and Dialpad can deliver a premier end-user experience without taking up the time of valuable development resources.

This type of technology also considers the product lifecycle, making product updates and improvements painless and straightforward.

Prabhakar says, “Improvement is an important part of maintenance, especially in software development, and this can include increasing accessibility and expanding the system. Understanding what hardware people have and use is important for further developing compatible audio systems that support an optimised listening experience.”

The Immersitech EngageTM SDKs can be easily integrated by the service provider in multiple ways, including mobile edge, in an app or web browser, placed in the cloud in the service provider’s core infrastructure, or deployed on-premise for purpose-built applications. Designed to be adapted to a number of different open source and proprietary systems, the Immersitech SDKs use streamlined APIs to manage audio handoffs and associated application data.
