Launching iPECS Cloud in South Africa with Telkom

Telkom Business’s Cloud PABX service is set to “revolutionise” the management voice communications market in South Africa.

The South African service provider’s new PABX Cloud service is powered by Ericsson-LG Enterprise’ iPECS Cloud and continues to provide all the features of the traditional on-site systems to which their customers have become accustomed, while also reducing business costs, improving functionality due to being licence-based, and providing greater workflow flexibility.

The launch off the new offering between Telkom and Ericsson-LG Enterprise has been facilitated by a long-time partner of both, Aria Technologies Africa (ATA).

“Telkom Business has always been at the cutting edge of technology, and we are on a continuous search for product that will assist SMEs to get the best out of their business,” stated Makgosi Mabaso, Managing Executive SMB and broadband.

The natural evolution of technology from on-site systems to more cloud-based platforms led Telkom    Business to continue the journey of expanding their solution offering to include iPECS Cloud to its suite of services. We have enjoyed a great product from Ericsson-LG and service from our existing suppliers ATA for many years through our premise-based PABX range and it was only natural that we progress into the cloud range.”

PABX Cloud, powered by iPECS Cloud, launched in the South African Market last month and ATA CEO, Inus Smalberger, told UC Today that it was a strategic move by Telkom to opt for iPECS Cloud as their preferred hosted telephony platform.

“Because of the movement of the on-prem solution and the features and functionality of iPECS Cloud, the natural migration of on-premise business to Cloud based PABX is imminent,” he explained.

Mabaso added: “To provide our customers with best-in-class product ranges, we at Telkom Business require partners and suppliers that provide a durable product with excellent pre-sales and post-sales support.

“Great communication and service are key enablers for great partnership. This creates excellent value for customers and thus far both ATA and the Ericsson-LG Enterprise have delivered graciously”

ATA’s Smalberger added that although the offering has only been available for just over a month, he anticipates an influx of customers from the start of next year as similar offerings on the market hit their end of life.

We anticipate quite a quick ramp up on the product from 2022,” he said.

“We are excited about the innovative nature of iPECS Cloud and expect many of those customers to migrate to a hosted solution.”

Mabaso added: This solution will certainly appeal to businesses looking for improved communication within their organisation.  Any business that relies on voice, video, conference calling, and messaging to run their business and is looking to provide flexibility and mobility for improved operations with cost saving will benefit from this solution.”
