Devices for Hybrid Work: ‘We’ve Experienced the Toilet Paper Effect!’

Many businesses are now realising that the devices they have bought over the course of the pandemic are not actually fit for purpose, according to Frost & Sullivan’s Alaa Sayee.

  • Sayee will be delivering a keynote as UC Summit this week, in which he will discuss how companies should tool up for hybrid working. Register to attend for free here

Sayee said that many businesses had opted to buy consumer-grade devices early in the pandemic, particularly because of supply constraints, but now know these need to be upgraded.

“More businesses have realised that consumer devices are not appropriate for business communication and collaboration,” he said.

“The first half of 2020 was like the toilet people effect, where everybody went ahead and bought whatever was available.

“But companies have now realised that the quality of these products – the audio quality, the video quality and the connectivity – are really not as good as the enterprise grade devices.

“That has been a big learning for many businesses in 2021.”

Sayee will be speaking as part of an action-packed day 3 at UC Summit. Other sessions include:

  • Telecoms analyst Fazil Balkaya will discuss the value of good-quality video with AudioCodes’ Menno Buijs
  • UC Today’s Rob Scott will be joined by EPOS Sales Director John Creech and thought leader Jon Arnold to evaluate the best technology for the hybrid workplace
