Tech Data has launched an identity and access as a service (IAMaaS) offering to help partners enable secure hybrid working from their customers.

The solution is designed to let partners resell managed services without having to shell our cash on their own technology.

Alison Nixon, director of cybersecurity in the Advanced Solutions unit of Tech Data, said: “Identity and access management is right on the front line of enterprise digital defences and should be a critical element of every organisation’s security posture.

“But many customers don’t have a policy or a solution in place – and many partners do not have the in-house skills and capabilities to manage IAM for their customers and deliver the right outcomes”

“Our service breaks that impasse, providing our partners with a managed IAM service that they and their customers can trust.”

The IAMaaS offering is the latest component of Tech Data’s RECON Security Suite, which gives combines cybersecurity technologies from a host of vendors – including SonicWall, Malwarebytes, and Veeam – as well as Tech Data’s own services.

Tech Data, which was acquired by fellow US distributor Synnex last year, said that IAM in particularly is becoming increasingly important, with many employees working remotely, either temporarily or as part of new hybrid working models. As a result, businesses are now having to securely enable more widely dispersed workforces.

The distie said that its IAMaaS offering uses technology from a number of its vendor partners, with Microsoft’s Active Directory and Azure Active Directory providing the foundation of the service.

Tech Data boosted its own services offering last year through the acquisition of Finance Technology. It also looked to boost its reseller base in the collaboration space through investments in Google Workspace and meeting rooms.
