Xilica showcased its latest UC audio solutions, which were compared to ‘black magic’ by a Xilica exec at Barcelona ISE.

Shaun Robinson, VP of Product Management at Xilica, explained that this description refers to the huge amount of mathematics that goes into its audio solutions. Out of the complexity, Robinson says its solutions have been made easy to use, plug and play devices.

The collaboration product designer’s range includes room kits, processors, network endpoints, speakers, user interfaces and accessories.

Some of the speakers it showcased required only a single point of connection.

Robinson explained the advantages of reduced cabling:

“We have USB that connects to a computer or laptop. Everything else is connected, including the speakers, so we did not put any audio connections on the speaker itself.

“IT technicians don’t need to be worried about keeping stock of speaker cables, stripping speaker cables or accidentally getting polarity wrong; all the things that audio installers would do.

“We do not want technicians having to do that, so just grab a patch cable or any other Ethernet cable and plug it into our amp, plug it in our speaker, and it’s going to work.”

Robinson also spoke about its partnership with Sennheiser. He outlined the broad strokes of their relationship: Sennheiser brings its microphone technology, and Xilica adds the other audio products needed for medium and large room spaces.

These combined product offerings are called the Xilica x Sennheiser Medium/Large Room Kit, and they include the DSP box, an amplifier, and speakers, which are all category connected. A single category cable connection runs to the ceiling for the microphone and all the audio as well.

Robinson also explained what sets Xilica’s products apart from the competition: “Xilica has been in business for 20 years, and it came out of the pro audio space.

“We have engineers who are deep in signal processing and understand how to do that very well.

“What we are doing is taking all that expertise and bringing it into the conference rooms and classroom space, and creating a very simplified experience for the installers and customers.”

Xilica and Seinheisser have been in a strategic partnership since September last year.
