Zoom Workspace Reservation will be generally available at the end of this month to facilitate office workspace management and bookings within organisations.

The new workspace reservation tool is designed to improve the hotdesking and hoteling experience for hybrid teams and system administrators.

As well as managing and reserving office workspaces, workers will also be able to see who is coming in and get seating recommendations. Beta customers have also used the software to book parking spaces in advance.

Jeff Smith, Group Product Manager, Head of Zoom Rooms and Whiteboard, said: “Employers continue to prioritise hybrid office management as they seek a secure, easy-to-use, and comprehensive solution to help connect in-office and remote workers.

“Workspace Reservation expands on Zoom’s already robust hybrid work offerings and helps employees have access to the tools they need to do their best work on a given day.”

Zoom Workspace Reservation is available as a Zoom app on a desktop or through a web browser.

The application allows hybrid workers to book Zoom Rooms, Zoom Phone appliances, work desks, personal meeting rooms, screening rooms, and other customised spaces.

For hybrid teams and system admins, Zoom has listed the key advantages of using its workspace reservation software.

Hybrid teams will have booking flexibility, enabling users to reserve spaces for a customisable length of time.

Second, their bookings can be made from the front desk using a kiosk, at a workspace, or from a scheduling panel.

Finally, Zoom’s interface will be familiar to most hybrid workers, increasing the overall user experience.

Zoom says the process has been streamlined for system admins, allowing custom office maps and seating locations to be uploaded easily from the admin portal.

Printable QR codes can be added to workspaces, and reservations can be made ad hoc to simplify space management.

Zoom’s Workspace Reservation also collects usage data to enable admins to analyse and optimise their workspaces.

Zoom explains the need for this tool in a blog post: “Organisations and employees worldwide have embraced the idea that work is something you do, not a place you go.

“This change in perspective has also led to a shift in how we view the office.

“Organisations will need to equip offices and workspaces with flexible solutions that empower hybrid teams, encourage employee socialisation, and close the distance between the office and the remote workspace.”

The demand for hybrid working solutions is demonstrated by the Zoom and Momentive 2022 poll, in which over half of remote employees were found to prefer a hybrid working setup.

More than half of employees also want to come into the office to meet new clients and participate in team activities.

Recently, Zoom celebrated the milestone of attaining three million users worldwide

Another feat was reached earlier in the month by the Zoom Phone Provider Exchange becoming available in more than 70 countries.
