Focus Group acquired Incom-CNS Group (Incom) to strengthen its geographical presence and add support for its 25,000 customers.

The acquisition was made possible by investment from Bowmark Capital in 2020, which has also enabled Focus Group to acquire a number of other companies, including HighNet, swcommsGB Technologies, and STL Communications

Incom is a communications solutions provider with an emphasis on contact centre and Mitel solutions. The company recently gained Mitel’s Platinum Partner status.

Ralph Gilbert, Co-Founder and Director at Focus Group, said: “At Focus Group, we take great pride in our industry-leading organic growth, but the investment from Bowmark Capital has allowed us to accelerate this performance.

“In Incom, we’ve targeted another great business, with an excellent team, strong organic growth and a really strategic location for the group.

“David and Jason have dedicated their careers to building Incom – a business with an outstanding reputation for high customer satisfaction, a highly skilled team and great culture – so we’re excited to work with them and the whole Incom team to continue to drive its success as part of Focus Group.”

Incom has offices in Manchester and South Wales, which Focus Group believes will add important geographical footholds.

David Hughes, CEO of Incom and Jason Kilvert, CTO of Incom, will continue to lead the newly acquired company.

Focus Group are planning to invest in the Incom team to help it to fund new growth.

Incom is described by Focus Group as “another strategic regional hub”, which it says will continue to operate under its existing name.

Hughes said: “Our 33-year history in the industry has seen us grow the business both organically and through acquisition, develop an outstanding team and receive multiple industry accolades.

“During that time, we have attracted interest from a number of potential purchasers and repeatedly rebuffed their approaches.

“However, the opportunity to become part of Focus Group, with its outstanding strategic growth in the industry and our shared ethos of looking after our people and customers, provides the perfect fit for our team.

“Dealing with Ralph and Tom during the process has been an absolute pleasure, and both Jason and I are excited about collaborating with everyone at Focus Group going forward and helping our team to continue their growth within the wider group.”

Focus Group was started in 2003 as a provider of business technology. It has a team of more than 800 employees in offices across Britain, serving businesses with telecoms, IT, connectivity, cyber security, energy, and mobile technology solutions.

Last year, the head of mergers and acquisitions at Focus Group said it aims to be one of the largest UK telco resellers
