Many organizations rely on voice paging for critical on-site communication. Whether it be operation announcements in a school or airport, or emergency communication in a hospital or manufacturing facility – communicating with the occupants of any building is a critical requirement. Paging systems are often installed to deliver such critical information to a mass audience. Traditionally, paging systems were tied into legacy PBX phone systems – many organizations are still operating in these systems. However, as the market transitioned from legacy to IP-based platforms, the link to this critical on-site infrastructure was broken.
Algo simplifies how organizations bring voice paging to a VoIP world by either replacing or restoring essential voice paging systems that can connect to new UC, UCaaS, or other IP communication platforms.
Ryan Zoehner, Head of Operations at Algo, sets out the problems organisations are facing,
“’I’ve migrated to a new UC system. My paging doesn’t work anymore. How can you solve that for me?’ This is happening to organisations across the world, as they are sold on the benefits of an IP-based communication system but may neglect to factor voice paging into their project considerations.”
Zoehner elaborated on the importance of these systems as more than nice-to-have options, but critical for many:
“For many organisations, however, this is critical for security and safety. There are many organisations that cannot open their facilities until they have voice paging for emergency notification in place. These critical reasons can turn into a massive headache, if there is not a good solution”
Algo can simplify IP Voice Paging for organizations, either with the deployment of SIP-based IP Speakers that work natively with most UC and UCaaS platforms or with IP Paging Adapters which act as a bridge between legacy paging infrastructure and new IP systems. Algo’s products are compatible with over 65 platforms, including all of the big names like 8×8, Cisco, GoTo, RingCentral, Teams, and Zoom.
With these two solutions, the good news is that organizations have options. Organizations can deploy IP Speakers, giving all the functionality of an IP endpoint (much like an IP phone). Zoehner expanded,
“For greenfield projects, major retrofits, or when existing paging speakers are failing, organizations will opt for deployment of IP Speakers. This is the gold standard solution, it gives organization maximum flexibility, functionality, and future-proofs of their critical communication ecosystem.”
With IP Speakers, organizations get the benefits of a complete IP ecosystem with devices being directly addressable, PoE powered, remote configurable, and equipped with a variety of performance-enhancing features, such as multicast capability and speaker talkback.
Where legacy voice paging is functional, the good news for organizations is that their legacy infrastructure can be retained, meaning that companies don’t need to completely replace their existing speakers. Algo can create a bridge between the new cloud-based setup and the old on-premises infrastructure using its IP Paging Adapters. This allows organizations to seamlessly integrate legacy voice paging amplifiers and speakers with their modern IP-based communication systems. Zoehner elaborated further on the benefits of IP Paging Adapters,
“IP Paging adapters have really become the Swiss Army Knife of our solution set, allowing organization to manage their migration to IP in a cost-effective manner, while still benefiting from the IP features of the paging adapters”
What Sets Algo Apart?
Algo works with large multinational companies across all verticals, ranging from education to healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, and logistics.
Zoehner explains some of Algo’s key differentiators:
“At the end of the day, we differentiate by focusing on two factors, simplicity and functionality. Our IP endpoints are designed to make communication easier and more effective for organizations – as such, deploying Algo products is as simple as deploying an IP phone.
“Our IP endpoints delivery great features that improve the functionality of communication systems, with features such as: wideband audio to improve speech intelligibility; our simple-to-deploy web interface to allow for remote configuration; or our embedded speaker microphones to allow for two-way talk and ambient noise response – improving the functionality to be well above a standard speaker.”
