2023 is just around the corner, and in the world of business, that means one thing: it’s time to start predicting the top trends for the year.
Since 2020, we have seen a huge change in the way that people work. Employees are now more likely to be in a hybrid working environment, where they can work from home or remotely as needed. This has been made possible by advances in technology, which have made it easier for people to stay connected no matter where they are. As a result, businesses are able to save money on office space and other associated costs.
The UC industry, as a core enabler of collaboration and productivity, will continue to have a role to play over the next 12 months as businesses continue to mold their working conditions to what is best for the company and their employees.
According to Cataleya CEO Andreas Hipp, the 2023 communications industry will be dominated by two main technologies: Microsoft Teams and Zoom. However, he added that their popularity will begin to decline as users move towards more innovative solutions.
“I believe we will see a continuation of 2022 trends in the Macro and Micro environments well into 2023 with maybe some changes later in the year, subject to no further crisis developing out of nowhere.
“The trend towards hybrid working will continue in 2023, meaning we can expect to see a rise in the popularity of contact center and UC solutions over the next year. These solutions allow businesses to provide a better customer experience while also reducing costs.
“Vendors in the UC market will also have an opportunity to replace incumbents by offering cost-effective solutions that meet the needs of businesses, as they finetune their working arrangements and deal with macro-economic factors like inflation.”
Hard Work Paying Off
When it comes to Cataleya, Hipp says that a lot of the work he and his team have put in over the past 12 months will culminate in “quite a few” announcements in 2023, including the full launch of Link2Teams and Orchid Collab that will simplify provisioning of users across Microsoft Teams, Zoom Phone and other Comms platforms, as well as integration to SBC’s and carriers.
“Link2Teams and Orchid Collab will be fully launched in early 2023 and help clients to automate and simplify user and phone number provisioning across UC, PBX, and SBC platforms as well as Carriers.
“On the core SBC side we’ll launch a self-provisioning and upgrade tool to allow customers more autonomy, and cut down time to deploy and configure. In addition we are also launching our SBC clustering solution as the first step in making Orchid Link SBC truly cloud native, followed by containerization towards the end of 2023. Also our user interface will receive a significant overhaul and fresh, intuitive look and feel.”
Continuing to Expand
Hipp added that some of the 2022 ambitions that ended up being tabled due to global challenges will be a focus for Cataleya, including expansions into new territories.
“Besides the product releases we have planned we will certainly continue our market expansion into new regions like South America and South Asia for core network SBC opportunities, as well as strengthen our presence in North America, Europe and highly developed markets in Asia for enterprise SBC deployments with service providers and UC / CCaaS vendors.
“We want our customer base to reach 100 and grow revenue by at least 20%-25% in 2023. Plenty to do obviously but we are positive and some of the economic uncertainties might work in our favor as well as we provide value for money and outstanding support.”
