Virginia-based enterprise video firm Vbrick has announced the takeover of enterprise content delivery network (eCDN) provider Ramp.
Vbrick and Ramp are the sector’s leading eCDN providers, and the buyout represents a consolidation of both firms’ delivery capabilities.

The pair intend to offer “multiple video distribution modalities”, assisting with different types of network set-ups and delivering bespoke options and enterprise use cases.

Vbrick and Ramp Together for Stronger Offering

An eCDN imparts video behind firewalls meaning there are no bandwidth and latency issues. This proves critical to corporate video strategies.

The combination of Ramp and Vbrick means they are in a better position to offer a stronger live and on-demand video proposition, able to cope with traffic spikes.

Ramp has made a name for being a universal eCDN provider that can deliver multicast, caching and P2P and claims to work on any platform with tight integration.
Paul Sparta, Chairman, and CEO, of Vbrick, stated: “As video becomes more pervasive in the workplace, large organisations need proven and reliable enterprise video solutions with an eCDN that can optimise corporate network utilisation and ensure great viewer experiences.”
Sparta went into detail about working on a video at scale, and enthused: “Vbrick’s acquisition of Ramp consolidates the eCDN market’s best features and capabilities into a unified edge caching and multicast solution — together with Vbrick’s native peer-to-peer solution, this is a winning combination that will advance our ongoing commitment to building a better hybrid workplace for a new era of video streaming at scale.”

Vbrick Continues Support During Transition

Vbrick has allayed fears for Ramp customers and reassured them, along with Ramp-certified partners, that they will be fully supported during the change. As well as this, Vbrick has confirmed it will fully support the eCDN technology transition to a single eCDN platform.
Neal Stanton, Co-CEO and CRO, Rap, enthused: “We are excited to join the Vbrick family.” Stanton clarified:
“This represents an important next step in Ramp’s mission to provide the most effective and secure video delivery. Vbrick is the industry leader and, together we will provide richer solutions and greater support for our customers.”

Back in August 2021, Ramp hit a record quarter and introduced new updates in the form of enhanced analytics, and announced a new Microsoft Teams integration.

At the time, Stanton spoke optimistically of widening customer base and said: “Ramp is experiencing exponential growth as companies adopt a hybrid return-to-office strategy.

With this shift underway, more enterprises are looking to Ramp to deliver high-quality video at the lowest bandwidth possible securely.”

Vbrick’s Recent Portfolio Expansion

In November, UC Today reported Vbrick expanded its portfolio with a new browser-based production tool.

Sparta confirmed the company’s focus on supporting large enterprises. “We are completely oriented towards the enterprise,” he said.

“Enterprise buyers have traditionally been apprehensive because they’re not accustomed to video working on enterprise networks, but that’s changing, and we’re moving through the hype cycle.”

In August, Vbrick also launched video platform as a service (VPaaS) for developers to utilise its cloud-native enterprise video platform.

To support them, it constructed a Developer Hub replete with how-to video tutorials and reference materials.
