Zoom Rooms Intelligent Director Launched to Enhance Hybrid Working
Zoom has launched its Intelligent Director for Zoom Rooms to enhance the hybrid working experience.
The solution leverages AI and multiple cameras to provide the best image and angle of all participants in a meeting room so remote participants can see everyone clearly.
Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer at Zoom, commented:
As more people return to the office, it’s no longer enough to deliver the best remote worker experience; every business needs a solution to deliver the best hybrid meeting experience. Even with some employees in the office, oftentimes other team members are dispersed, so meeting equity and inclusion become more important than ever. Intelligent Director is the solution that can bring employees together, regardless of location, so they can truly connect face-to-face.”
The solution is designed to address the problem of participants being likelier to be hidden by others in bigger spaces when a meeting is only using a single camera. Intelligent Director’s multi-camera configuration and AI technology intend to create “meeting equity to everyone in the room”, as Zoom’s announcement describes it.
Intelligent Director is built for medium- to larger-sized rooms and can individually frame up to 16 participants in a Zoom Room using its set of cameras.
Microsoft Intends to Move Windows Fully to Cloud
Microsoft plans on moving Windows fully to the cloud, news that could have significant ramifications for the future of hybrid working and collaboration.
The revelations were revealed via an internal Microsoft “state of business” presentation made public as part of the current FTC vs Microsoft hearing about the tech giant’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The presentation illustrated Microsoft’s designs on moving consumer Windows users to the cloud, a process the vendor is currently undergoing with commercial users via Windows 365.
Under a section titled “Move Windows 11 Increasingly to the Cloud,” the presentation wrote: “Build on Windows 365 to enable a full Windows operating system streamed from the cloud to any device. Use the power of the cloud and client to enable improved AI-powered services and full roaming of people’s digital experiences.”
Another slide of the presentation, based on long-term commercial opportunities, suggested Microsoft wants to grow the use of cloud PCs in tandem with Windows 365’s growth.

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Launches Rainbow Telephony for Teams Connector
Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise has launched its Rainbow Telephony for Microsoft Teams connector.
An enhancement and expansion of Alcatel-Lucent’s enterprise-grade UC platform, Rainbow, the Rainbow Telephony for Teams connector is built for interfacing with the Teams platform. The connector enables the use of current telephony systems across any type of device — including desktop, tablets and mobile — software and environment in a smooth process.
“Rainbow Telephony for Microsoft Teams is an example of how the Rainbow platform incorporates the most advanced telephony functionality enhancing each customer’s unique ecosystem and ensuring optimised productivity,” said Moussa Zaghdoud, Executive Vice President, Cloud Communications Business Division.
The solution includes advanced features like call management, conferencing, and call barring. These facilitate reliable and streamlined communications with customers and partners.
Users can be reached anytime and via any device with a single number. The connector also means this number displays on devices when users make outgoing calls. Status synchronisation between Teams and Rainbow means users are no longer disturbed during meetings or calls because their presence status is automatically updated between Teams calls and phone calls.
