NEAT Appoints Former Zoom Exec as CEO

Collaboration hardware vendor Neat has appointed former Zoom Chief Marketing Officer Janine Pelosi as its new CEO.

Pelosi brings nearly two decades of technology industry experience, having departed Zoom in May this year, where she aided the company’s growth journey from start-up to household name it is today.

“Neat has an incredible product, team, and market opportunity ahead,” said Pelosi. “As businesses manage both the benefits and complexities of hybrid work, Neat supports this new landscape and empowers teams to connect and accomplish more together.

“I’m excited to bring these capabilities to a broader customer base, work closely with Microsoft, Zoom, and our expanding ecosystem of partnering apps and services, and join forces with a team of brilliant, entrepreneurial individuals.”

Neat was founded in 2019 and claims to have raised over $73 million and sold over 200,000 devices to more than 12,500 enterprises globally since its inception. Its product range spans audio bars, personal cameras and larger collaboration boards.

Simen Teigre, Neat Co-founder and former CEO has transitioned to Chief of Emerging Innovations, focusing on “radical product innovation and incubation”. Both Pelosi and Teigre will serve on Neat’s Board of Directors.

“Janine has been a friend and supporter of Neat since our launch in 2019. I am thrilled to now welcome her as our new CEO,” said Teigre.

“Her deep understanding of our technology and products, as well as her genuine passion for helping customers navigate the future of work, make her a perfect culture fit for our team.

“I’m excited for my new role, where I will focus my time and energy on what I love most – Neat’s products – making sure that we continue delivering game-changing technology experiences while expanding our software offering.”

New Leadership and Products

Over the past year, additional leadership appointments have been made to bolster Neat’s go-to-market team, including Todd Meister as Chief Operating Officer and Martijn Blokland as Vice President and General Manager of Neat’s International business.

Neat has also brought in experienced professionals like Kevin McMenamy as Vice President of Software Engineering & CTO and Priscilla Barolo as Head of Marketing and Communications to lead the engineering and marketing teams, respectively.

In June, Neat launched a new app hub and Neat Board 50, enhancing collaborative experiences for hybrid working teams.

The app hub added availability to third-party business and entertainment applications on Neat devices, including popular apps like Slack, Miro, Robin, and others.

Alongside this was the launch of the Neat Board 50 – an all-in-one collaboration board.

Neat exclusively supported Zoom’s platform when it was launched, with Zoom itself going on to invest $41m in the vendor.

This changed in June 2021, when Neat announced that support for Microsoft Teams was on the way. It was given its first Microsoft Teams certification in March the following year.

At the time, then-CEO Teigre said: “Neat for Microsoft Teams opens our unique devices and experiences to a broader market globally, giving customers greater flexibility for their hybrid work environments.

“Working with Microsoft, we look forward to continuing to solve customers’ challenges in the meeting space and help unlock the creative potential of hybrid teams.”
