Cisco has been named an official technology partner for the New England Patriots, who will leverage Webex for its communications and collaboration.

The recent renovations to the Patriots’ stadium, Gillette Stadium, opened up new opportunities for implementing more of Cisco’s networking and Webex’s collaboration solutions. One of the most significant renovations is the delivery of video inside and outside of the venue, with Cisco tech at its core.

The Patriots will leverage Webex to improve productivity and collaboration for the team and staff, with one use case cited being the weekly coaches’ press conferences throughout the NFL season.

Michael Israel, Chief Information Officer at the Patriots’ parent business, The Kraft Group, said:

We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Cisco and further integrate cutting edge technology to secure The Kraft Group’s (TKG) operating environment while leading Gillette Stadium into the future. Over the past several years our Cisco footprint has expanded beyond Webex Collaboration to include the benefits of Cisco’s cutting-edge technology to elevate our security stance and capabilities in the ways we serve content to our guests at Gillette Stadium.”

Multiple Cisco Solutions Empowering the Patriots

As well as Webex, the Patriots are deploying several other Cisco solutions to modernise its internal workflows and commercial offerings.

Cisco’s IP Fabric for Media product enables secure and streamlined delivery of 4K video content to fans everywhere, including via the largest outdoor high-definition stadium video board in the US, international broadcasters, and screens throughout the concourses, suites, and concessions.

The Patriots and Cisco partnership also benefits from security enhancements. Cisco Secure Firewalls are utilised across the venue to protect the stadium, staff, players, and fans from dangerous cyber threats. Cisco Secure Malware Analytics will run across the network infrastructure to help monitor, detect, and prevent threats before they escalate.

“The New England Patriots are one of the most successful and prominent franchises in all of sports, and we are proud Cisco is the trusted partner to connect and protect the organisation,” said Patrick Morrissey, Senior Vice President of Global Specialists at Cisco. “The combination of Cisco networking and security ensures fans both inside and outside Gillette Stadium are able to safely consume the high-quality, real-time video we know they crave.”

This summer, Webex received two endorsements from European regulatory bodies in support of its data security and compliance applications.

Webex became the first UC and collaboration platform to achieve EU Cloud Code of Conduct (EU Cloud CoC) Level 3 adherence at the start of July.

Webex progressed through an independent third-party assessment and audit that verified all code controls. SCOPE Europe validated it, which is the EU Cloud CoC’s monitoring body. This double confirmation compliance reinforced trust in Webex’s approach to Level 3 adherence, signalling the compliance and security of its cloud services.

Later in July, it was announced that Webex met EU data protection standards, according to the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS).

The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) leveraged Webex’s services to host hybrid hearings and meetings, culminating in a months-long investigation by the EDPS. On July 13, 2023, the EDPS confirmed its approval of Webex, making it the only videoconferencing platform to have received such an endorsement.
