Phonism is integrating third-party device management with Webex Calling, which it highlights as being the first offering of its kind on Cisco’s collaboration platform.
Through this partnership, the VoIP specialist Phonism is enabling Cisco partners and their customers to quickly deploy Webex Calling.
Organisations are now able to automate device deployments, management, security, and migrations for ‘hundreds’ of Cisco and third-party devices, according to Phonism.
Amey Parandekar, VP, Product Management at Cisco, pointed to a key benefit for Webex users: “Our partnership with Phonism will bring a new third-party device management solution to Webex Calling.
“This integration will provide customers with a secure and automated solution that enhances device deployment and migration and reduces the complexities of working with multiple vendors.”
Phonism Integration Benefits
Phonism’s integration with Webex Calling allows customers to use their own devices with Webex, which will not only eliminate complex migration, as Parandekar points out, but it also removes the need to retrain users with no forced device refresh. These savings on time and work will lead to lower overall costs.
In fact, Phonism believes that customers can save up to 95 percent for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) use cases.
Onboarding savings, which are significant compared to current costs, derive from automated migrations of existing devices and zero-touch provisioning of new devices.
Phonism’s third-party device management solution supports more than 280 devices and that number is growing.
Supported brands include Cisco, Avaya, Polycom, Poly-Obi, Yealink, Snom, Fanvil, Grandstream, Htek, and Mitel.
Cusci Webex added to the list of popular features of Phonism on its Beta site. It singles out Phonism’s drag-n-drop graphic representations of specific devices, the ability to configure bulk settings and apply them to a single device or entire deployment, easy software and firmware upgrades, and more.
It also lists specific benefits of Phonism’s integration with Cisco Webex through its ability to offer seamless asset synchronisation, unified SIP credential management, device configuration data pulling from Webex, and ‘ring-ready’ device collaboration, which means they are in line with best practices and are ready for immediate use.
Phonism says it is aligned with the Cisco partner community and that it will support channel partners in their work to serve customers.
The new device management integration is available through the Webex Beta Program, a platform that lets users test out and give feedback for the latest Webex features.
Steve Lazaridis, Founder and CEO of Phonism, expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership: “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Cisco team to expand Webex Calling device support.
“Customers are looking to Webex for modern, advanced calling and collaboration. Phonism eliminates a key barrier of entry by helping accelerate adoptions.
“With our expanded device support and migration capabilities, Phonism is able to provide Cisco’s partners and customers a clear and secure path to Webex for their compatible devices.”
Cisco Webex has been forging other partnerships in recent times. Earlier this month, it collaborated with HCLTech to launch Meeting-Rooms-as-a-Service (MRaaS), which enables globally distributed workforces to work together effectively.
In September this year, Cisco Webex partnered with Journey to reinforce security for businesses that deploy Webex Contact Centre.
Cybersecurity software business Journey will help to streamline the customer experience and improve security for businesses through its integrated “Identity” on the Webex App Hub.
