By leveraging KSCAPE, an audio and lighting technology company under the umbrella of K-array, the two companies are able to eliminate unnecessary cables from meeting spaces with a single product.
The collaborative effort took place at the Samsung Display Experience Centre in Frankfurt, which was reportedly in need of a refresh, ultimately leading to a design that incorporated endpoint devices from SAMSUNG, KSCAPE, Logitech, and AMX.
Kris Hogg, Head of Partnerships at Samsung, and Tom Riby, Global Sales and Marketing Manager at KSCAPE are said to have conceived of the idea in conversations they had together. Riby explained: “Kris and I shared a frustration with modern meeting room disorganisation and complexity.
“It was clear to us was that the productivity buzzkill caused by cable clutter and technological issues during video calls was a massive time and money drain to businesses.
“We started discussing how RAIL and Samsung could be used together to create an intelligent, elegant yet simplified meeting space—free from cables and with effortless plug-and-play connectivity.”
The aim of the project was to upturn some of the long-held meeting room solutions with a fresh look at what could be done to improve meeting experiences. Fortunately, the planned renovations for the Samsung Display Experience Centre offered them the perfect chance to showcase their ideas.
The meeting space comprises two RAIL units with symmetrical lighting above the table, a K-array Truffle-KTR25 subwoofer beneath the table for depth of sound, and a K-array Kommander-KA04 amplifier to power the RAIL and Truffle.
Riby summarises how the solution works: “RAIL takes the necessary components of a modern meeting space, clear audio and adjustable lighting, and puts them together into a form that eliminates excessive cabling and multiple control.
“Thanks to the integration of control plug-ins the tuneable lighting and audio can be controlled through the AMX Muse controller, giving room occupants the ability to adjust the room ambience throughout the day.”
At the front of the room is Samsung’s ‘The Wall’ screen, made out of LED panels and designed for executive meetings.
For informal and collaborative meetings, there is a Samsung Flip 85” at the back of the room.
Meanwhile, the Logitech Rally Plus system provides a video conferencing solution, while AMX CTC Pro works as a unifying control system for the room’s technology and gives users a plug-and-play experience.
Users can change the meeting room controls between meeting mode and video conferencing mode, removing the need to alter the speaker settings or add laptops or devices.
Hogg commented: “We’re pleased to partner with other technology manufacturers who share the same vision of simplified yet sophisticated meeting room technology.
“It was important to show the evolution and future of meeting rooms in this space. As part of this, removing the clutter and complexity at the table was a key factor in the design, making the room simple to use and understand.
“The addition of KSCAPE’s RAIL allowed us to include high-quality discrete audio and high-end lighting fixtures in one unit.”
KSCAPE participated in Light23 in London last month with RAIL, allowing attendees to experience the solution in action within the Cantelo Showroom at the London Business Design Centre.
