Zoom announced today the launch of its latest application tailored exclusively for Apple Vision Pro, ahead of the product’s launch

The innovative app is scheduled to be available for download on February 2, 2024, when the headset goes on sale.

Zoom’s app for Apple Vision Pro promises an unparalleled meeting experience by seamlessly merging video conferencing with users’ physical spaces, effectively erasing the boundaries between in-person and remote interactions.

The integration is expected to create a more immersive and lifelike environment for distributed teams, fostering a sense of connection and inclusivity.

“Zoom on Apple Vision Pro helps teammates stay connected no matter when and where they work, or how they communicate and collaborate,” said Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom.

“The integration of Zoom on Apple Vision Pro and visionOS extends our platform promise of allowing participants the ultimate meeting experience from anywhere and delivers on our commitment of seamless collaboration and communication.”

The app on Apple Vision Pro offers a native experience for meetings with easy-to-use features for starting, joining, collaborating, and scheduling meetings, Zoom said.

Users will be represented by an authentic spatial representation of themselves in Apple Vision Pro, allowing others in the meeting to see their facial expressions and hand movements.

Creating an immersive experience scalable to the correct size, Zoom on Apple Vision Pro gives users the sensation of being in the same room as their colleagues and clients, eliminating the need for additional physical equipment or setup.

Additional capabilities, expected to roll out later this spring, include:

  • 3D Object Sharing: Catering to industries like media and design, Zoom’s 3D object sharing enables collaboration by allowing users to share and view 3D files in the context of their environment. For instance, animators or game designers can collaborate seamlessly on the latest character models.
  • Zoom Team Chat: Tightly integrated with Zoom Meetings, Team Chat facilitates seamless information sharing and communication. Apple Vision Pro users will be able to streamline communication and collaborate effectively using Team Chat within the Zoom app.
  • Real-world Pinning: Users gain the ability to pin up to five Zoom Meeting participants anywhere in their physical space. This feature, combined with the option to remove the background of pinned participants, enhances the feeling of connection among Apple Vision Pro users.

Last year, Zoom quietly introduced support for Apple TV through its ‘Zoom – for Home TV’ application.

The app is designed to work with second-generation Apple TV 4K models or newer. Zoom for Home TV is distinctively listed on the Apple App Store, separate from its iOS and iPadOS counterparts.

This strategic move by Zoom aims to enhance the exposure and accessibility of its video conferencing platform by enabling users to conduct meetings via Apple TV. This expansion provides customers with an additional, user-friendly option for using Zoom, whether it’s for professional purposes in the office or for casual catch-ups with friends and family at home.

The Zoom – for Home TV app offers a straightforward description on the Apple app store, stating, “With Zoom, you are one click away from video meetings with gallery views and screen sharing. Connect with anyone on other devices, Windows or Mac computers, mobile phones and tablets, Zoom Rooms, traditional conference room systems, and telephones.
