Zoom has launched a compliance product that combines archiving, eDiscovery, legal hold and information protection capabilities.

Compliance Manager is built on Theta Lake’s compliance solution, which has been integrated with Zoom for some time.

Zoom said the new offering will help organisations meet regulatory thresholds and mitigate compliance risk.

Ritu Mukherjee, Head of Product Business Acceleration and Readiness at Zoom said: “Zoom currently provides compliance and information protection for enterprise customers within regulated industries like financial services, healthcare, and the public sector through integrations with key communications compliance providers.

“With Zoom Compliance Manager, we are making it easy for our customers to have an end-to-end experience — seamless buying, easy setup, centralised management, and simplified support — with a comprehensive solution that addresses their communications compliance needs across the Zoom platform.”

Zoom said that Theta Lake’s compliance tools are now available on Zoom’s administrator console with “Zoom-specific enhancements, providing a frictionless experience”.

Key features of Zoom Compliance Manager include archiving and content capture, which enables users to maximise their Zoom usage and meet regulatory and long-term record retention requirements. This feature automatically captures meeting data, AI summaries, phone recordings, team chat, whiteboard content, and more.

Additionally, the eDiscovery feature allows users to discover insights across the Zoom platform through a user-friendly interface. It facilitates easy access to communication archives and offers the ability to analyse, evaluate, and effortlessly export content.

The Legal Hold feature, meanwhile, enables users to capture and hold communications of specific individuals. Users can manage cases through custom workflows, case management, and data export requests when legally mandated.

Anthony Cresci, SVP of GTM and Partnerships at Theta Lake, said: “Our expanded compliance and security capabilities for Zoom, along with the ability to use Theta Lake technology, represents a significant milestone in our partnership.

“With this new offering we are able to provide organisations with seamless and efficient access to communication and collaboration capabilities that have compliance record keeping, archiving, search, supervision, and data protection built in.

“I am incredibly proud of expanding the value and innovation that our partnership has delivered to our joint customers.”

Zoom said there will be additional features in a future version of Zoom Compliance Manager.

One such feature is Risk Detection, which enables users to monitor and detect spoken, written, or shared content across supported products at scale. This intelligent detection system identifies regulatory, privacy, conduct, and security risks in what was said, shown, and shared, allowing users to mitigate risks effectively.

Another feature is Data Loss Prevention, which helps users identify and mitigate potential risks in their communication workflows. This is achieved through the implementation of both custom and pre-defined policies, with monitoring and thorough analysis capabilities.

AI Focus

Last month, Zoom announced that its AI Companion productivity assistant now automatically detects supported languages for producing meeting summaries.

This update aims to support multilingual teams, allowing them to collaborate more dynamically across the Zoom platform. The new language capabilities extend to nine languages for Team Chat and 36 languages (in preview) for in-meeting features.

Team Chat now supports nine languages, while in-meeting features will support 36 languages in preview, enabling global teams to communicate more effectively.

Additionally, AI Companion detects supported languages spoken during meetings to generate comprehensive meeting summaries in the primarily spoken language, eliminating the need for users to set the primary meeting language manually.

In Zoom’s Q4 FY 24 earnings call, it reported over 500,000 accounts enabled for AI Companion within five months of its launch. The AI investments were highlighted as key drivers of total revenue growth, with revenues increasing by 2.6 percent year over year for Q4. AI Companion has generated 7.2 million meeting summaries, contributing to a successful quarter and year for Zoom’s Contact Centre business.
