Crestron Modernises New York Giants’ Draft Room

Crestron has performed a technological overhaul of the New York Giants draft room to ensure maximum efficiency regarding draft day.

The NFL Draft is an annual player selection event in which clubs submit their selections and trades to the league. With less than a week to go before this year’s draft, the New York Giants will now be more prepared than ever.

According to Crestron, the audiovisual systems manufacturer, the club’s draft room has gone “from magnets, printouts and manual updates to a tech-driven command centre,” with a range of new Crestron solutions added.

New York Giants General Manager Joe Schoen described the upgrade to user experience as they are now able to access any information or video content they might need to determine their picks: “The speed of the system is of utmost importance — and the reliability of it on draft days is very important.

“With just the touch of the screen from the Crestron pad, we can select anything we need; we can program it in there to go on whatever screen we want.”

“If we want to see a player’s stats, their medical history, the draft board — it’s just amazing how it works.

Schoen also explained how useful the technology will be outside of draft day too:

The efficiency of our meetings when we’re leading up to draft day, what we can do, and how we could customise it to exactly our need — I would put this space up against any of the other 31 teams in the league.”

“The look, the speed, the efficiency, the reliability, and the technology have made things simple for us.”

Crestron’s ‘Giant’ Makeover

Crestron has now furnished the New York Giants draft room, press rooms, meeting rooms, and other areas with solutions, including the Crestron Control, Crestron Wall Mount Touch Screens, Crestron Tabletop Touch Screens, Crestron FlipTop Cable Management System, DM NVX AV-over-IP, Crestron X-Series Amplifiers, Saros Low-Profile Speakers, and Digital Graphics Engines.

Described by Crestron as the ‘brains of the technological ecosystem,’ the Crestron Control allows you to manage everything in the room, including the screen, video conferencing, lighting, shutters, and temperature.

The New York Giants are not the only ones to opt for the Crestron Control solution; other customers include the US Military and Fortune 500 companies.

The integration team actually raised the Giant’s draft room floor six inches to run cabling beneath it to connect 42 screens across three walls.

That’s not all; Schoen wanted to be able to call prospects as soon as they had been selected by the team, which had not previously taken place until round five or six as they did not have enough time to get in contact sooner. The Crestron Control integrates with two of the most popular video conferencing applications, Microsoft Teams and Zoom Rooms. The Crestron Control App for Zoom Rooms was launched last month.

Before selecting Crestron, Schoen was offered a variety of solution possibilities from “good” to “best” by the systems integrator Image Engineering. Fortunately, the buy-in from upper management allowed him to choose Crestron’s best-in-class solutions.

The New York Giants’ Chief Business Officer, Pete Guelli, believes Crestron has defied expectations: “When you have four Super Bowls and eight championships, there’s an expectation that you’re going to operate in a certain way when you bring customers in the door.

Crestron’s technology has allowed us to exceed everyone’s expectations.”

Earlier this month, Crestron announced a partnership with Sustainability in AV (SAVe) as part of its mission to minimise its ond the industry’s environmental impact.
