Q-SYS, a division of QSC, has announced significant leadership changes as part of its strategic expansion in key regions.
Rob Sherry has been appointed as Regional Director, Northern & Eastern Europe and Managing Director, UK & Ireland. Simultaneously, Duncan Savage will step into the role of Vice President and General Manager, APAC.
Sherry joined Q-SYS in September 2020 as a Sales Manager and was recently promoted to Sales Director. As Regional Director, he will oversee operations in Northern and Eastern Europe while leading the UK team through its next phase of development.
“Rob’s experience in guiding the ever-expanding sales team and advancing the UK business positions him well to lead the UK team into this new stage of maturity,” said Markus Winkler, Executive Vice President, EMEA & APAC at Q-SYS.
“I look forward to seeing the future continued development of our business in the UK under Rob’s leadership.
Sherry expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating: “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to lead the UK team and continue to grow the business.
“Q-SYS has a great amount of potential, and we have a lot more to discover. As we grow and develop as a platform solution, I look forward to guiding our incredible team to expand the horizons of what can be achieved in our industry.”
At the same time, Duncan Savage takes over the running of the APAC business having joined as UK managing director in 2017.
On Savage’s promotion, Winkler said: “Duncan brings with him nearly two decades of experience in the AV industry and a wealth of knowledge from his work in the European market.
“His experience and expertise will be invaluable in orchestrating and leading the local teams, and I look forward to seeing the future continued development of our business in APAC under his leadership.”
QSC said the appointments are proof of its commitment to expanding further in the European and Asian markets.
The firm has also made a string of announcements over recent months, largely based on partnerships with key players in the collaboration space.
In March, Q-SYS, launched the Q-SYS Control for Zoom Rooms App, allowing integrators and IT end users to integrate third-party room controls with supported Zoom Rooms controller consoles.
This app enhances existing Zoom Rooms Controllers by displaying a Q-SYS user control interface, enabling easy control of room devices like displays, lighting, shades, and HVAC systems connected to the Q-SYS Core Processor.
Leveraging the Q-SYS Control Engine, users can create customized two-way control with feedback directly from the Zoom Rooms interface. Additionally, the app facilitates integration with the Q-SYS Ecosystem of Technology Partner Program, enhancing the overall Zoom experience for end users.
In December, Q-SYS revealed the certified Q-SYS UC Compute Bundle for Microsoft Teams Rooms.
The bundle simplifies the design, procurement, and deployment of solutions for high-impact spaces.
Developed in partnership with Lenovo, the UC Compute Bundle features the Lenovo ThinkSmart Core and ThinkSmart Controller for Teams Rooms.
Integrating with Certified for Teams Q-SYS devices, it allows for tailored Microsoft Teams Rooms solutions. Additionally, the “Q-SYS Control for Microsoft Teams Rooms” application enables integration of room environmental controls alongside Teams controls.
Meanwhile, in November, Q-SYS introduced what it said is the first certified for Microsoft Teams solution for Microsoft Teams Rooms featuring spatial audio support.
The solution encompasses Teams-certified Q-SYS Core processors, SPA Series amplifiers, AcousticDesign Series surface mount loudspeakers, and the Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 (TCC2) beamforming microphone array.
This innovative offering provides crystal-clear spatial audio in meetings, with voices emanating from their relative positions on the Signature Teams Rooms screen.
