Mitel and Deutsche Telekom have partnered to empower the channel with a shared communications solution, “Unify X powered by Telekom”.

Unify X powered by Telekom is a bundle which combines Mitel’s Unify communications and collaboration offering with Telekom’s broadband portfolio.

Deutsche Telekom emphasises that its service addresses the increasing demand for hosted or cloud-based PBX (Private Branch Exchange) systems. This trend is driven by companies seeking flexible and cost-effective solutions to connect their employees, including those working remotely. The cloud PBX service offers several advantages, including reduced hardware requirements and simplified integration for remote work, making it an attractive option for modern businesses.

Christian Jessel, Head of DACH at Mitel, said:

This new step reinforces the strong relationship between Deutsche Telekom and Mitel. By making Unify X powered by Telekom available to the channel community, we broaden our common market reach through the resellers sales force and enable more customers and partners to benefit from a UC solution that already proved to be successful and relevant on the market.”

Mobile phone numbers and home office connections can be seamlessly integrated into virtual systems. This allows employees to make calls from any location under their usual conditions. As the company expands, new locations can be effortlessly added, and the number of connections can scale accordingly.

Additionally, companies using Unify telephone systems can easily transition to the new cloud-based system, avoiding complex migration projects. Furthermore, employees are already familiar with the basic functions, ensuring a smooth transition.

“With these two strong brands, partners and business customers can rely on future-proof virtual telephone systems together with an excellent network and first-class service,” added Michael Müller-Berg, responsible for the B2B partner business at Telekom Deutschland.

Telekom and Mitel support their joint activities with a range of comprehensive support measures, including sales qualifications, technical training, and assistance in creating and conceptualising offers.

Mitel’s Year of C-Suite Change

The past 12 months have been significant for Mitel.

In October, Mitel welcomed Charles-Henry Duroyan as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Head of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A). In November, Luiz Domingos assumed the role of Chief Technology Officer and Head of Large Enterprise R&D. Domingos joined Mitel following the company’s acquisition of Unify.

Domingos’ responsibilities include collaborating closely with the R&D department and product development leaders to ensure the integration of emerging technologies into Mitel’s product roadmaps. Additionally, Domingos provides executive direction on expanding Mitel’s flexible UC solutions to address evolving customer needs.

In September, Mitel appointed Sophie Ames as its new EVP and Head of Human Resources Operations across more than 30 countries. In her role, Ames will hold the titles of Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and Chief People Officer (CPO), securing her a place in the company’s C-suite.

Skellon oversees Mitel’s sales strategy in the EMEA (excluding the DACH region, which includes Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) and APAC regions. His responsibilities include strengthening Mitel’s global expansion efforts following the 2023 acquisition of Unify.

To bolster its presence in the DACH region, Mitel has created a dedicated sales team and appointed Christian Jessel as the new Head of DACH. This move follows a period of growth post-Unify acquisition, highlighting Mitel’s ambition to solidify its position as the leading UC provider in the DACH region. In his new role, Jessel oversees Mitel’s sales strategy and drives growth in the key markets of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

In April, Mitel appointed Bill Dunnion as its new Chief Information Security Officer.
