Mitel Launches Dedicated Healthcare Collaboration Platform

Mitel Launches Dedicated Healthcare Collaboration PlatfoMitel has revealed a new dedicated healthcare collaboration platform for both remote and in-patient care.

Virtual Care Collaboration Service (VCCS) is launching in seven European markets—Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the UK—and a global rollout is planned for Q3.

Mitel said VCCS is “purpose-built” for healthcare providers and includes support for virtual consultations and integrations across the patient care workflow.

Martin Bitzinger, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Mitel, said: “The VCCS platform is built to balance better patient experiences with improved operational efficiency for healthcare providers, and clearly illustrates what practical innovation means for Mitel.

“It is designed to enhance the patient journey at every juncture by providing seamless integration with existing workflows, enabling high-quality multimodal patient interactions, and, importantly, it can be used with any technology.

“Mitel recognises the healthcare industry’s need for agility, flexibility and resilience at scale and the VCCS platform is purpose-built to securely empower these factors without compromising patient care.”

VCCS appears to be the successor to a namesake offering from Unify, which Mitel acquired from Atos last year.

Mitel said healthcare providers face a twofold challenge: immense financial and resource pressure coupled with increasing patient demands.

The delivery of easy-to-use e-consultations allows healthcare professionals and patients to enjoy a secure, multimodal experience.

This includes features such as voice and video calls, messaging, screen sharing, and file exchange without downloading any software.

Mitel said the platform integrates with various workflows, such as patient monitoring, community care, and augmented reality.

The vendor added that this integration saves time and improves efficiency for healthcare professionals by providing access to more information within a single interface.

The inclusion of bedside terminal integration extends these services directly to the patient’s bedside during in-patient stays,

The system also integrates with secure patient record systems.

Mitel said VCCS can be deployed in diverse environments, whether the healthcare provider requires an on-premise solution, private or public cloud, or a hybrid model.

New partnerships

Meanwhile, in June, Mitel and Deutsche Telekom partnered to offer “Unify X powered by Telekom,” a shared communications solution combining Mitel’s Unify communications and collaboration tools with Telekom’s broadband services.

This service addresses the growing demand for cloud-based PBX systems, offering flexibility and cost-effectiveness for businesses, particularly those with remote workers. The cloud PBX system reduces hardware needs and simplifies remote work integration.

DACH Head Jessel, Head of DACH highlighted the strengthened relationship between the two companies:

“This new step reinforces the strong relationship between Deutsche Telekom and Mitel. By making Unify X powered by Telekom available to the channel community, we broaden our common market reach through the resellers sales force and enable more customers and partners to benefit from a UC solution that already proved to be successful and relevant on the market.”

Changes at the Top

Mitel has recently undergone significant changes in its executive team over the past 18 months.

Bill Dunnion was appointed Chief Information Security Officer in April, bringing over two decades of experience in IT, cybersecurity, and risk management. Dunnion will focus on enhancing Mitel’s information security strategy and ensuring compliance with security standards.

In February, Simon Skellon became the SVP and Head of the International Region for EMEA and APAC, responsible for driving the sales strategy and global expansion.

At the same time, Christian Jessel was appointed as Head of DACH, leading the sales strategy in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland following Mitel’s acquisition of Unify. These changes reflect Mitel’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team and driving growth in key markets.

Various other leadership changes were made last year.
