Agentforce Turns Slack Into An All-In-One Digital HQ

Following the integration of Agentforce into its platform, Slack is transforming into much more than a simple messaging app.

Formerly known as Einstein Copilot, Agentforce will boost worker productivity as a result of its AI-powered CRM insights and capability of giving action instructions to Agentforce agents.

Teams using Slack are now able to leverage Agentforce’s generative AI capabilities to surface insights and assist with tasks from directly within the collaboration platform.

Salesforce-owned communication and collaboration hub Slack is also adding third-party AI agents and assistants from Anthropic, Adobe, Cohere, Perplexity, and others, plus a new channel type that connects Salesforce CRM records with channel-based conversations in Slack.

Denise Dresser, CEO of Slack, believes AI technology will improve results for all teams: “Slack’s agent-powered work operating system is redefining what it means to work smarter, not just differently.”

“We’ve moved beyond collaboration; every day, millions of teams are leveraging purpose-built AI, with customer data, automation, and now agents seamlessly integrated into the flow of work.”

This isn’t just about getting work done. It’s about unlocking new productivity levels to drive results and move business forward for every team and department.”

“In today’s increasingly complex work environment, true productivity requires a work operating system built for the future of work — and that is Slack.”

Agentforce in Slack

With Agentforce in Slack, users can pose questions or input instructions using natural language and receive responses based on structured CRM data and unstructured conversational data.

Agentforce can also offer status updates on cases, draft emails and action plans, suggest next steps, and share insights in direct messages or channels.

Powered by Data Cloud, Agentforce agents can analyse information and form intelligent reasoning, perform tasks, and offer personalised experiences.

Agentforce Sales Coach, for example, is able to perform role plays within deals and generate feedback to help sellers from within Slack.

Salesforce explains that the need for these innovations to Slack is supported by the findings from its AI research earlier this year. This research included the revelation that desk workers spend 41 percent of their time on low-value tasks and that nearly half of them cannot find the information required to carry out their jobs.

It concludes that teams need a more efficient solution that allows agents to work together with purpose-built AI and customer data within a single operating system.

Salesforce shared that teams are growing their productivity results by up to 47 percent.

Irwin Lazar, President and Principal Analyst at Metrigy, shared his view of AI’s benefits: “Metrigy research data shows that almost 80 percent of companies are using or planning to use generative AI to improve productivity.”

“Successfully adopting generative AI requires a comprehensive work operating system where teams, data, and AI converge, enabling insights from all applications and the ability to create custom workflows.”

Slack’s latest AI innovations increase the power of generative AI across notes, chats, files, agents and apps, creating new potential for innovation and productivity in the AI era.”

Agentforce in Slack will be made available in beta in October 2024, while third-party agents are live now in the Slack Marketplace.
