Workplace from Facebook Introduces New Features

Leading collaboration tool, Workplace from Facebook, recently announced a series of new products as part of the Workplace Transform North America event. The new capabilities aim to support companies transitioning into a new age of work following the pandemic.

According to Workplace from Facebook, there’s an enormous opportunity for today’s business leaders to build a new future of work on the back of the pandemic.

However, this opportunity requires companies to look at the needs of millions of employees commonly overlooked by traditional IT teams. Specifically, Workplace from Facebook wants companies to consider the frontline, email-less, and deskless employees, and the new features aim to assist with this.

What’s New with Workplace from Facebook

The first update announced by Workplace from Facebook today is the arrival of an enhanced live video experience. Leaders and employees will now enjoy an updated Q&A experience, allowing for two-way conversations when users “go live.” There are new comment and question filters, so hosts can ensure they don’t miss any important queries, and everyone can track the conversation. The result, according to Facebook, is a team that feels more connected, and seen.

Workplace from Facebook also announced the arrival of new “Video Chapters.” This functionality is intended for the people who can’t tune in for live Q&A sessions, and employees who need to watch segments of a video again. The machine learning service automatically adds chapters to pre-recorded and live videos, so users can signpost video content when sharing it. Viewers can then simply choose the pieces of video they need to watch.

Content Control and Safety Centre Upgrades

In the Knowledge Library, Workplace from Facebook has added access to new “cover pages.” The cover pages for categories means you can organise your content more effectively and make it look a lot better – so teams find it more engaging. There’s also a new Translations feature.

The Translation offering makes it easier for more people to access and leverage official company details. Admins can attach language translations to categories, allowing employees to see content in their chosen language.

The Safety Centre will be seeing some upgrades too. For instance, you can now use pre-filled message templates to announce and share information about an incident as quickly as possible. It’s also possible to duplicate a prior incident to send the same message in the future. Admins can track message responses via mobile too.

For identity purposes, Workplace from Facebook also introduced a new “pronouns” option, so employees can let other team members know what they prefer to be referred to with.
