Aircall’s new UK office comes as part of its push to develop stronger relationships with partners in the region, according to its COO and Co-Founder, Jonathan Anguelov.
The cloud-based voice platform provider received $120m in a Series D funding round earlier this year, raising its valuation to over $1bn. At the time it announced that part of the money would be used to establish a stronger presence in the UK.
Its new London office makes good on this pledge, enabling Aircall to strengthen and develop relationships with UK partners and customers.
“We’ve been growing our different countries at the same time, with the UK growing at a very fast pace,” Anguelov (pictured above) told UC Today.
“As we’ve been doing everything from Paris, we realised that we were making a big amount of revenue from the UK, that we had quite a large customer base there, and quite a large team in France dedicated to the UK.
“We knew we needed to build our own office there to better address our customers in the UK. We have about a thousand customers today and the vision is to have hundreds of thousands, so being close to our partners and our customers is a big step for us in our internationalisation plan”
Aircall intends to double the headcount of its Shoreditch office from 25 to 50 within its first year of operation to assist in bolstering its relationships.
Anguelov also hinted that Aircall will be announcing partnerships with some “big” resellers, telcos, and systems integrators over the next few weeks.
“Things are going very well and that’s why we are opening this office – it’s also a way for us to get closer to our partners,” continued Anguelov.
“Indirect sales represent about 25 percent of our new sales in the UK. Globally, that figure is about 20 percent, so the UK is actually growing faster in indirect sales. Historically, Aircall has been purely direct, but we are pushing, as much as possible, to grow our indirect sales.”
