Delivering an exceptional quality of education requires consistent and powerful communication. Not just between students and teachers but internal faculty, admin, and various other connected groups. The better educational teams can connect and collaborate, the more they can inspire, guide, and direct their students towards success.

Unified Communications tools have the power to align teams wherever they are. Specialists can support teachers in building new lesson plans. Team members can work together on empowering students and even use the tools embedded into their cloud-based ecosystems to support learners.

Today, we’re going to explore how some of the top educational facilities around the world have leveraged the power of UC to unlock new opportunities for their students and educators.

Code Ninjas and Workplace from Meta

Code Ninjas is a company committed to helping students learn to code while building their own video games from scratch. The youngsters develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills, alongside STEM knowledge, in a safe and compelling environment. In 2020, the team was looking for a solution to bolster a culture of candid, open communication among their team members to overcome issues of a siloed global network.

Turning to Workplace from Meta (previously Facebook), Code Ninjas was able to leverage a mobile-friendly and familiar interface for a distributed team. According to business leaders, up to 98% of the workforce now uses Workplace on a regular basis. The technology ensures team members can access resources, seek advice, and find solutions to common problems on the go. The dispersed workforce also has access to a consistent two-way line of communication.

ESCI and Zoom

When the pandemic struck, it wasn’t just a disruptive event for the learning experiences of students. It also had a significant impact on the professional development of educators. A community of regional educational centres known as the “Education Support Centres of Ireland”, or “ESCI”, decided it was time to make ongoing learning opportunities more accessible to educators wherever they are.

Using Integrated Media Solutions (IMS), ESCI started hosting large-scale Zoom webinars, capable of reaching hundreds or even thousands of teachers at once. More than just a tool for video collaboration and communications, Zoom’s ecosystem made it easier for teachers from all walks of life to participate in crucial learning opportunities. Solutions like Live Transcription even allowed participants from other parts of the world to get involved seamlessly.

Le Wagon and Slack

For those looking to break into the growing technology industry and take full advantage of their leadership and computer programming skills, Le Wagon offers a phenomenal service. The international coding boot camp, founded in Paris, is available across 39 cities in 20 countries, thanks in large part to collaboration via Slack. The channel-based messaging platform has ensured the company can scale on an incredible level.

Slack channels enable a network of 1,000 global freelance teachers, developers, engineers, and data scientists can communicate and share content in real-time. The Slack ecosystem has ensured Le Wagon can maintain the quality of the boot camp experiences it has to offer, even at a time when the world is changing at an incredible pace. Le Wagon now uses Slack to onboard students, connect them with instructors, and ensure alumni can achieve long-term success.

Aalborg University and Poly

When it comes to enabling education in a somewhat unpredictable landscape, it’s not just the software organizations need to consider but the hardware in play too. When Denmark began imposing its own restrictions on schools and training facilities during the pandemic, the Aalborg University needed to adapt fast. The company quickly transformed more than 250 classrooms into hybrid learning hubs.

Using the powerful video and collaboration capabilities of Poly’s Studio video bars, Aalborg University was able to continue recording, streaming, and delivering exceptional training to students wherever they were. The result was a reliable solution for giving students the support and guidance they needed to continue expanding their education during the pandemic.

Herts for Learning and RingCentral

Founded to help young people realise and unlock their potential, regardless of their circumstances, Herts for Learning was founded to ensure excellent education for everyone. The non-profit solution developed a huge range of services and products for schools, including curriculum guidance, IT services, teacher training, and even HR support. Almost a decade after its founding, the HfL group became the largest school company in the UK.

As the group expanded, they decided their legacy phone system needed a significant update. With RingCentral, the team was able to access a flexible mobile phone, internal communication, and contact centre solution in one convenient package. RingCentral’s solution even empowered continued productivity for the team during the pandemic. With RingCentral, Herts for Learning could proceed with its exceptional path to ongoing growth.

Clemson University and Avaya

When the challenges of the pandemic forced universities and colleges to begin shifting their focus toward the digital world, a Clemson University Professor from the South Carolina facility started leaning on the functionality offered by the Avaya Spaces Platform. Professor Feltus was able to convert a traditional hands-on and face-to-face course on Bioinformatics into a digital experience.

The new solution, powered by Avaya, allowed for more student-to-student collaboration, student-to-teach interactions, and improved performance all around. Clemson University discovered UC and other accompanying tools from the Avaya environment could allow for the delivery of a better learning experience for students than traditional or face-to-face lectures and seminars.

Tulsa Technology and Microsoft

Offering full-time career training programs and hands-on learning experiences, Tulsa Technology is one of the oldest and largest independent public school solutions in the region. Tulsa Tech gives secondary, and adult learners access to a huge range of training experiences in cybersecurity, automotive, healthcare, and aircraft technology. When the pandemic hit, the IT department recognised a need to expand classrooms with remote learning capabilities.

Turning to Microsoft, Tulsa embraced both Teams Phone and Microsoft Teams Spaces to implement a new era of learning. Staff and administrative meetings shifted into the cloud, along with student interactions. The result was a more agile and adaptable environment for teachers and their students alike. The team achieved all the benefits of hybrid learning fast, with minimal training required.
