Considered by many to be the building blocks of global transformation, technology, media, and telecoms (TMT) companies are under constant pressure to innovate and evolve. These brands are paving the way for a future where people can connect more effectively, engage with new forms of information, and unlock the benefits of endless innovations.
Like most businesses, these companies rely on consistent communication and collaboration between employees to ensure they can achieve their goals. As such, UC solutions have become a core part of the TMT technology stack, particularly in an age of hybrid and remote work.
LG Uplus, the South Korean cellular carrier owned by the LG Corporation, found itself searching for a way to enable digital transformation in its workplace. The business leaders wanted a more effective way of bringing people together for innovation and growth. Fortunately, they found the solution they were looking for in Microsoft Teams.
Transforming Business Collaboration
LG Uplus was searching for a secure collaboration tool, capable of streamlining work processes for its distributed teams. Before Microsoft Teams, simple tasks such as producing weekly reports took far too long to complete, particularly since only one person could edit at a document at any time.
After considering various tools for unifying their workforce, the brand eventually turned to Microsoft Teams, because it offered excellent integration with the company’s existing tools, and provided the security and compliance features they needed. According to LG Uplus, for a company handling personal information, security is of upmost importance.
The brand began their transition into Microsoft Teams with a pilot implementation on local PCs, used mostly for chatting and conferencing. However, by October 2020, LG Uplus had rolled Teams out on a cloud-level, alongside a guidebook for employees, and a training video. The implementation of Teams into the cloud environment meant the company could provide its employees with instant access to files, ensuring staff could work from anywhere, with consistent levels of productivity.
Part of what made the Teams implementation so successful for LG Uplus, was the ability to customize the ecosystem according to its specific needs. The brand was able to connect its Teams instance with the internal systems employees were already using, such as calendaring solutions and hardware.
Revolutionizing the Workforce
Moving into the Microsoft 365 ecosystem with Teams has allowed LG Uplus to lay the foundations for a more inclusive, engaging virtual work environment. The company believes the new technology has helped it to increase productivity, and create a more collaborative culture. What’s more, because employees can report issues and failures in real-time, directly from the field, problems for staff members can be addressed almost instantly.
Following the successful implementation of Teams, LG Uplus has shared its plan to implement more of the productivity tools and services included in the Microsoft landscape. At present, the brand is working on a strategy to introduce Power Apps and Power Automate into workflows, to help simplify and reduce routine or redundant tasks.
