Vodafone Portugal and RingCentral have announced the Vodafone One Net TeamCollaboration with RingCentral UCaaS solution to empower flexible working for Portugal-based workers.

The collaboration involves RingCentral’s messaging and video collaboration capabilities combined with Vodafone’s established fixed and mobile voice communications functionality into one platform. Although Portugal-based workers already had access to Vodafone Business UC with RingCentral offering, this new fully cloud-based solution enables these users to work collaboratively from any device across any location.

Henrique Fonseca, Vodafone Portugal’s Business Unit director, commented: “To the robust, effective, and simple Vodafone One Net solution that we have been offering to our customers for more than ten years, we are pleased to now partner with RingCentral to leverage their collaboration capabilities.”

Portuguese companies will be among the first in Europe to experience the advantages of this differentiating platform, which is a real step forward in their relationship with customers and employees. The solution will accelerate their productivity with maximum agility and reliability.”

The solution intends to support businesses, especially SMBs, with an affordable and flexible cloud-based UCaaS offering to foster better collaboration and communications among its leaders, employees and customers.

Among the features of the Vodafone One Net TeamCollaboration with RingCentral are a unified experience across desktop and mobile for instant messaging, file sharing, task management, and video conferencing. These RingCentral capabilities are complemented by Vodafone One Net’s communications services, including call handling, logging and recording, IVR, and teleconference.

“Our mission at RingCentral is to simplify communications and help customers become more efficient, agile, and future-ready,” said Yves Desmet, SVP of International Service Providers, RingCentral. “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Vodafone to Portugal by combining the strengths of our platform with Vodafone — enabling people to work in any mode, on any device, from anywhere.”

Continuation of Longstanding Vodafone and RingCentral Partnership

RingCentral and Vodafone first announced a partnership in December 2020, intending to combine Vodafone Business’s approach to mobile-first functionality and the company’s reach and scale with RingCentral’s CCaaS and UCaaS expertise.

It has been a fruitful collaboration for both companies, with Vodafone Business UC with RingCentral launching in 2022. That solution offered RingCentral’s Message Video Phone platform and Vodafone’s expertise in 5G and mobility to help distributed workforces. It addressed connectivity and productivity needs with one license and allowed developers to use thousands of APIs to adjust the solution to their needs.

The solution can integrate with other technologies, including customer relationship management platforms, enterprise resource planning tools and helpdesk services.

“Combining RingCentral’s industry-leading cloud communications with Vodafone’s leadership in mobility, 5G, and international connectivity unlocks new ways for companies to grow and run their businesses,” said Homayoun Razavi, Chief Business Development Officer at RingCentral, at the time.

Portugal is not the first European nation in which RingCentral and Vodafone have launched a specific solution. Last year, Vodafone Germany and RingCentral launched Vodafone Business UC with RingCentral as a shared venture to improve communications and employee experience. The solution combined RingCentral Message Video Phone (MVP) with Vodafone’s 5G and mobility capabilities.

Last month, Vodafone and RingCentral upgraded their shared collaboration and calling platform to improve the experience of mobile users. The two vendors introduced updates to their Vodafone Business Unified Communications (VBUC) platform, intending to seamlessly transform a user’s iOS or Android device into an extension of their office.

The introduction of a Unified Directory system allows users to connect and collaborate with colleagues across the business, including those without a VBUC license. While this service was launched last year for large-scale companies, the platform was expanded to address the needs of SMBs.

The updates also allowed businesses to potentially replace outdated fixed telephone systems without excessive bureaucracy, especially those preparing for the ISDN and PTSN networks to shut down in 2025.
