Jabra announced at InfoComm that it is adding Microsoft’s AI-powered features to its Panacast 50 and Panacast 50 Room System.

Microsoft IntelliFrame is being integrated into its Panacast 50 video bar, featuring multiple video streams, plus face and voice-recognition capabilities, making it one of the first Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows video bars to do so.

Describing itself as a “leader in personal sound and hybrid work solutions”, Jabra believes the introduction of Microsoft’s AI tools will revolutionise meeting experiences.

Aurangzeb Khan, Senior Vice President of Intelligent Vision Systems at Jabra, said: “At Jabra, we are always looking for ways to harness the power of cutting-edge AI technologies to revolutionize hybrid and remote meetings.

“This is why we are thrilled to introduce these new PanaCast 50 capabilities for collaboration with Microsoft Teams.

“These features are set to give professionals immediate productivity benefits, helping them better navigate the hybrid working era seamlessly, online and offline.”

Jabra said its latest AI additions are helping to meet the need for effective video meetings, as highlighted by its research, which revealed that 80 percent of meetings worldwide are either fully virtual or hybrid.

Microsoft Intelliframe and more

To this end, Microsoft Intelliframe offers in-room participants a dedicated camera view to enhance remote and room-to-room meeting experiences.

With three video streams, remote users in Teams meetings will have a clearer view of the other meeting participants.

The current speaker occupies the first stream. The previous speaker is displayed in the second stream, and the third video stream will show a panoramic room view.

Face recognition will display the names of participants to remote users, provided consent has previously been given for the technology to act in this way.

Added to this, Teams’ voice recognition functionality displays the identities of in-room participants in the meeting transcript, assisting AI productivity tools.

Again, voice recognition features will require individual enrolment before becoming active

Teams Premium customers will have access to intelligent recap, which automatically provides meeting notes, recommended tasks, and personalised highlights.

When used in conjunction, voice recognition will help to make intelligent recaps more precise.

The addition of Jabra Intelligent Meeting Space will also help to improve the quality of hybrid meetings by enabling customers to set meeting room virtual boundaries using the PanaCast 50.

As a result, those within the defined space will be included and those outside of it will not be accidentally included. It can also exclude people who are visible through glass walls but should not be in the meeting.

Albert Kooiman, Senior Director, Microsoft Teams Devices Partner Engineering and Certification at Microsoft, commented: “Microsoft Teams leverages the power of AI to create unique user experiences before, during and after Teams meetings, to enhance employee inclusion and drive natural collaboration.

“Jabra and Microsoft closely worked together on the PanaCast 50 to make this device an essential component of unlocking these AI-powered features for individuals, teams, and businesses.”

Jabra released the Panacast 50 video bar system in February 2023 as part of its portfolio for small to medium-sized meeting rooms.

In April this year, Jabra released Elite 4 earbuds as an affordable option for all-day use.
