Bing Chat Enterprise in Preview for More M365 Licences

Bing Chat Enterprise is now available in preview for a range of Microsoft 365 licences.

Earlier this week, Microsoft revealed that Microsoft 365 A3 and A5 now have access to the generative AI-powered tool, adding to E3, E5, Business Standard and Business Premium.

Bing Chat Enterprise was unveiled at Microsoft Inspire 2023, introducing Microsoft’s AI-powered chat tool to the business sector. Initially available in Microsoft Edge for consumers, Bing Chat now focuses on providing secure communication solutions for enterprises.

Yusuf Mehdi and Jared Spataro, in a joint blog post at the time of Inspire, highlighted the emphasis on data protection: “Bing Chat Enterprise offers AI-driven work chat with robust data security.

“Both user and business data are safeguarded, preventing any external leaks.”

Security Focus

Microsoft continues to promote Bing Chat Enterprise from a security perspective and stressed in a blog announcing the new availability that no data will leak outside the organization.

Even Microsoft itself does not have access to the data, meaning it will not be used to train AI models.

Why Bing Chat Enterprise is so Security-Focused

IT administrators can turn on Bing Chat Enterprise for users with the licences listed above. In addition, Microsoft said the tool will be turned on by default “no earlier than September 21st”.

Users will be able to access Bing Chat Enterprise in the Microsoft Edge sidebar and via bing.com/chat.

Bing Chat and Copilot

Bing Chat Enterprise’s rollout comes as the hype around Microsoft Copilot and other generative AI products continues to build. Microsoft positions the latter as being more pervasive than the former.

“Bing Chat Enterprise lets you use the power of generative AI at work, with commercial data protection,” it says.

“Microsoft 365 Copilot takes this to the next level and adds a superset of features that enable people to be productive and creative at work in a whole new way by grounding answers in your business data like documents, emails, calendar, chats, meetings and more to deliver incredibly rich and actionable responses to your questions.”

Bing Chat Enterprise in Education

Microsoft has also revealed Bing Chat Enterprise use cases for education, including drafting content, personalizing learning materials, brainstorming project ideas, summarizing PDFs, and enhancing efficiency in schedule design.

It’s important to note that Bing Chat Enterprise is not accessible to students; they can continue to use Bing Chat with a Microsoft account.

Microsoft is actively gathering feedback from the education community to improve the tool’s utility.
