Organisations across the globe are faced with the challenges of attracting their workers back into offices in the aftermath of the pandemic. CxOs have identified the importance of enabling workers to return to offices to collaborate, share experiences and foster team spirit. There’s a recognition that while digital technologies have been essential for enabling remote workers, they are also needed to power modern office experiences.
The workplace is now hyperconnected, which has enabled secure, robust remote and home working but now these capabilities need to be seamlessly provided in the office as well. Everyone, regardless of location, needs access to the same communications features and systems so a level playing field can be created that empowers home, remote and office workers equally. CxOs see the need for strategies that balance the benefits of connectivity for remote workers yet still attract workers back to the office.
This has become a significant challenge as workers prefer the flexibility of remote and home working. A recent Deloitte report, in collaboration with research firm Workplace Intelligence, found that 66% of respondents said they were likely to leave their current job if it required them to return to the office for five days per week. A study by The Conference Board with US human resources executives uncovered that 73% of organisations face challenges in getting workers back to the office, with 68% of respondents considering talent strategies to increase on-site work. This highlights the need to find a balance between remote and office work that is appealing and meets CxO’s requirements to stimulate return to office.
To achieve this, organisations need to ensure they offer unified, high quality communications experiences but this is not possible with the blend of legacy and new technologies that do not interact well. Companies should therefore focus on understanding their employees and their collaboration requirements and then putting in place the spaces and facilities, tools and technologies and the people to drive back to office initiatives. CxOs have a vital role here to ensure they empower workers with the tools they need such as appropriate devices and connectivity, that can traverse both the office and remote locations, and the blended office environments that foster innovation and knowledge sharing.
A well-executed return to office and hybrid work strategy will bring together technology and people and deliver long-term benefits. A fundamental enabler of this is endpoint management which allows for smarter management of device ecosystems, change management, legacy transformation and location-aware policies. Laptops, mobile phones, desk phones, video conferencing equipment – all of these need to work together in a seamless manner in today’s hybrid unified communications & collaboration estate. From a management perspective, this can be a nightmare – what with so many different endpoint vendors to work with, as well as integrating with other UC applications and controlling through a single pane of glass dashboard.
Tata Communications has created the Endpoint Management module in its GlobalRapide offering, with this in mind. The solution enables organisations to optimise their endpoint management and device strategies while opening up opportunities to innovate during the return to office transition, and beyond. GlobalRapide Endpoint Management ensures a future-ready workplace by enabling enhanced productivity, greater convenience, faster time to market and a simplified environment that consolidates multiple platforms and vendors, and integrates all devices.
Organisations are seeing success with Tata Communication’s integrated approach. A global financial services provider is already using Tata Communications GlobalRapide to manage and monitor endpoints for its Microsoft Teams Room (MTR) set-up at more than 80 sites, with 300 meeting rooms across four regions. This is helping to foster worldwide collaboration and support the customer’s return to office strategy.
