Zoom has announced two solutions to enhance its Zoom Events portfolio: Production Studio and a mobile app to complement the hybrid experience.

These new offerings aim to enable event professionals to streamline the hybrid experience, grow their reach to build a community beyond the events, and engage and inform viewers while fostering connections with in-person and virtual audiences.

Production Studio for Zoom Events specifically intends to allow event professionals to produce virtual event design elements for polished and professional events, removing the need for hiring a production agency.

Annika Elias, Product Manager at Zoom, commented:

Now, every event pro has access to professional-looking events in an easy-to-use interface, without spending thousands of dollars on a production agency. Other ‘out of the box’ webinar solutions don’t allow you to customise the look and feel of your event, which makes for a bland and less engaging experience. With Production Studio, event specialists can curate and customise the attendee experience without needing specialised design skills.”

Production Studio’s Feature Set

Zoom suggests that Production Studio can be leveraged to design internal events like an All Hands webinar or external marketing events like product demos.

Production Studio includes a dynamic layout selection, such as over 50 customised layouts, flexible aspect ratios and the ability to adjust space between videos.

Customised branding is also integral to the solution, including generating multiple webinar scenes per session with shared screen layout options, determining scene sequencing, border editing, and customising wallpapers for each scene.

There are also presenter management tools, including the ability to pre-route people in scenes and update the presenter in live scenes.

Lastly, technical features encompass cloud recording, lobby and third-party live-streaming capabilities, and it is easy to setup within the Zoom Events portal.

Production Studio for Zoom Events is now available globally with a Zoom Events or Zoom Sessions license.

A New Mobile App  and Improved Hybrid Experience for Zoom Events

The updated Zoom mobile app is available globally for Android and iOS with access to the Zoom Events section, and meeting and webinar attendees can access the hybrid event experience from this existing Zoom mobile app, removing the need to download an event-specific app. The mobile app ensures managing an itinerary, event chat, session Q&A, and networking is simpler for on-the-go participants.

Attendees can join the event, explore, bookmark, and attend sessions, receive essential event notifications, oversee the physical space using maps and digital aides, switch between in-person and virtual sessions, and connect with other in-person and virtual attendees through the updated Zoom mobile app.

During live events, app users can access event sessions, engage in chats, polls, and Q&As, and watch recordings of past events.

Zoom has improved its hybrid setup flow for event hosts, aiming to simplify hybrid event planning with new features. Now available in the web portal, event professionals can utilise templates to create hybrid events, such as the ability to build out hybrid ticketing, implement venue maps, and establish a native hybrid experience via the Zoom mobile app.

Zoom Benefitting from Diversified Portfolio in Recent Earnings Call

AI and Zoom Phone were central to Zoom’s Q2 earnings call as the vendor posted year-over-year revenue growth.

Q2 revenues grew year over year by 3.6 percent to $1.14 billion, with Eric S. Yuan, Zoom CEO, highlighting AI-powered solutions — including Zoom IQ Meeting Summary, Zoom Intelligent Director and Team Chat Compose — that add “value and enhanced productivity to our customers” as key operational highlights.

There was also a momentous milestone for Zoom Phone, with Zoom CFO Kelly Steckelberg reporting that Zoom Phone reached around $0.5 billion in annualised run rate revenue.
