Mitel has announced its new 700d series of next-gen Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) handsets that combine reliability and elegance.

The suite comprises four DECT devices that aim to fix a variety of user requirements, no matter how simple or complex, and address the comms needs of organisations in diverse industries, from healthcare and hospitality to education and retail.

Mitel outlines that the 700d handsets intend to meet the needs of frontline workers where safety, durability, access, mobility, communication, messaging, location services, and alarm handling are essential to working efficiently and securely.

James Wong, Vice President of Product Management at Mitel, said:

Today’s work environments need reliable, secure, and flexible methods of collaboration. DECT wireless communication offers all of this for mobile workers, including those operating in sectors with challenging environments. With the launch of the 700d series, Mitel continues to innovate by providing unique DECT solutions that deliver over-air handset software upgrades, custom configurations, advanced security protocols, and excellent audio quality.”

The 700d series also comprises Mitel’s SIP-DECT multi-cellular mobility product, which includes enterprise-grade reliability for business communications and Mitel UC platforms.

“We have been accompanying our customers on their digital transformation journey for over 25 years, and we are delighted that Mitel chose us as one of the first to test and use the new 700d DECT phones in real conditions,” added Karsten Huhn, Operations Manager, HEIN Netzwerktechnik GmbH. “The new 700d handsets include truly valuable features. In use, they proved their high quality and robustness, and we appreciate the user-friendly design with its large screen, brightness, and enhanced readability.”

What Exactly Is the 700d Handset Design?

Mitel says the 712dt, 722dt, 732d and 742d handsets consist of “the latest technology and user interface (UI) experience”.

This means that besides a modernised design that prioritises simplicity and reliability, the handsets also include a large, high-resolution display. The 2.4″ scratch-resistant display offers next-gen graphical features streamlining worker interactions for more efficient communications.

Other design features include backlit keypads that provide improved accessibility in low light. To support use in more demanding or adverse environments, they are impact-resistant up to 2 metres and meet IP44/IP65 dust-tight and water-resistant standards.

The handsets are built with plastics protected with an antimicrobial compound that makes cleaning easier while minimising microbe growth. Similarly, the long-life lithium battery allows shift workers to maximise uptime.

Lastly, the 700d series handsets are designed with Bluetooth 5.0 support and contain a USB Type-C charging port to support new 2024 EU sustainability regulations. These features enable organisations to better address current and future mobility requirements in a market in constant flux.

Mitel’s Sourcewell Relationship Extended Further This Year

Earlier this summer, Mitel announced it had secured a fourth successive contract with Sourcewell, extending its business relationship to 14 years.

The contract meant that Sourcewell, a trusted service cooperative — and the 50,000 government, education, and nonprofit organisations it represents through member agencies — would have access to a broad range of Mitel’s UC solutions through ready-to-use contracts that simplify the purchasing process.

Mitel provides businesses, nonprofits and public sector organisations with flexibility and choice through a portfolio that covers private cloud and on-site comms systems, contact centre, collaboration, mass notification applications, business phones, devices, and accessories.
