Cisco and NVIDIA Partner on AI-Powered Room Kit

Cisco and NVIDIA have expanded their partnership with the launch of an artificial intelligence-powered room kit.

Room Kit EDX was unveiled at WebexOne in Anaheim, California, with Cisco promising easy deployment, improved video and sound and improved meeting operability with Microsoft Teams.

The kit’s power is underpinned by NVIDIA’s Jetson edge AI platform.

Jeetu Patel, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Cisco Security and Collaboration, said: “In order for people to want to come to the office, companies must fundamentally reimagine and reconfigure workspaces to provide seamless and immersive collaboration experience.

“Our collaboration with NVIDIA helps make this possible as we expand our portfolio of AI-powered solutions that unlock the potential of hybrid workers.”

Cisco said customers benefit from flexible mounting options, including wall-mounted or free-standing, in some cases eliminating the need for permits and added building costs. This device also eliminates the need for patchwork speaker solutions, mounting options and furniture enclosures, reducing both the time and cost of deploying flagship spaces.

Leveraging the NVIDIA Jetson edge AI platform to power advanced camera, audio and speech intelligence, the EQX reduces the feeling of distance between in-person and remote participants.

On RoomOS mode, the EQX features native Webex Meetings and robust video interoperability with third-party meeting platforms. The EQX also natively supports Microsoft Teams Rooms augmented with the full-featured Webex Meetings.

IT admins can take advantage of device management and workspace analytics capabilities in the Cisco Control Hub.

Cinematic Meetings through Distance Zero

Cisco also announced Cinematic Meetings provided using NVIDIA Jetson system-on-module to create an immersive collaboration experience that reduces the impact of distance, making all meeting attendees feel like they are in the same room, regardless of their location.

This concept is called Distance Zero. Cisco aims to provide all attendees with more equitable and inclusive meeting experiences by bringing Distance Zero experiences to new workspaces and use cases.

Cisco has also designed a new campfire-like boardroom experience with four quad cameras and screens arranged in a circular configuration at eye level.

This setup provides an immersive view of the content and remote participants, creating the feeling of face-to-face collaboration for both remote and in-person attendees.

Elsewhere, Customers can now experience cinematic meetings in auditoriums and training rooms. Cisco devices seamlessly switch cameras and views to provide remote participants with the best view of speakers, their content, and close-up audience reactions.

In a new hybrid presenter mode, remote and in-room speakers can easily take the stage together for virtually in-person hybrid presentations.
