HCLTech has introduced Meeting-Rooms-as-a-Service (MRaaS) in collaboration with Cisco Webex which allows globally distributed workforces to collaborate effectively.

According to the global technology company, HCLTech, MRaaS brings legacy meeting rooms up-to-date while giving users the ability to join meetings from any meeting platform provider with Webex devices.

The solution, which is available on a subscription model, also enables organisations to enhance the design, implementation, and maintenance of integrated meeting rooms.

Rakshit Ghura, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Digital Workplace Services at HCLTech, commented on the new product partnership:

“MRaaS combines our consulting and managed services expertise with Cisco’s proficiency in Webex devices to change the way employees conceptualize, organize and interact in a collaborative environment for a modern hybrid work model.

“The common vision of our partnership is to elevate the collaboration experience at work and drive productivity through modern meeting rooms.”

MRaaS includes Webex collaboration devices that utilise artificial intelligence to provide intuitive and seamless collaboration experiences through smart features like meeting zones, intelligent people framing, improved attendee audio, background noise removal, and more.

AI in collaboration is evidently an important focus for Cisco Webex at the moment, with new AI partnerships announced at Cisco Live in June this year.

Before its collaboration with Cisco, Amlesh Sengar, Senior Consultant, Digital Workplace Services at HCLTech demonstrated the necessity for companies to incorporate MRaaS in a blog post by citing various studies.

This included research by Gartner which found that employees are 16 percent more productive and view their company 30 percent more favourably when they are satisfied with their physical workspace.

He also pointed to the statistic that 35 percent of employees waste between two to five hours per week on virtual meetings. Meeting rooms, therefore, play a crucial role in a company’s productivity.

The Benefits of MRaaS

Sengar listed three key advantages to using MRaaS for end users, IT, and business leaders:

  1. Meeting room experiences are improved it provides a more creative environment for end users.
  2. The daily workload and administrative burden of the IT team is reduced.
  3. The capex cost and value realisation worries of business leaders are taken away.

Now, following HCLTech’s partnership with Cisco, we might add:

  1. Users can join meetings from every meeting solution provider through Webex’s collaboration devices.
  2. Webex devices harness the power of AI in their smart features that bolster collaboration experiences.

Alexandra Zagury, Vice President of Partner Managed and as-a-Service Sales at Cisco, spoke about the benefits of the solution from the perspective of its own customers:

“Our partnership with HCLTech helps our clients transform their offices through cost-effective managed services that support the ongoing evolution of workspaces.

“As we reimagine the modern office, we are making it easier to support collaboration and productivity among workers, whether they are in the office or elsewhere.”
