Microsoft, Samsung Partner to Transform Smartphones into Teams Webcams

Samsung has collaborated with Microsoft to enable smartphones to be used as webcams for video conferencing with its Galaxy Book4 computer series.

Not only could this lead to higher image quality for video calls, but it also offers the user greater freedom to move around the room and share a more dynamic view of their workspace and surroundings.

Galaxy Book4, which was recently released, will also gain multidevice connectivity through Microsoft Copilot, which leverages AI technology to create a more seamless experience between PC and mobile.

The consumer electronics corporation Samsung introduced the latest update to its Galaxy Book4 in a press release: “Samsung recently celebrated the release of the new Galaxy Book4 series – its most intelligent and powerful PC line-up yet.

“The latest series offers intelligent performance, enhanced security and a vivid, interactive display, all contained in an ultra-portable design.

“Samsung has been elevating what a PC can do and has been collaborating with Microsoft to create new, seamless connected experiences.

Samsung continued:

Now, these experiences are being advanced further with new connectivity features that make the Galaxy Book4 series smoother, smarter, and more adaptable, reinforcing Samsung and Microsoft’s commitment to providing the best PC experience possible.”

Smartphone Camera Integration

With hybrid working on the rise and video conferencing becoming a staple of home and work communications, combining the quality and mobility of a smartphone into its latest Galaxy Book is arguably a no-brainer.

The Galaxy Book4 now allows access to smartphone cameras for video calls on video conferencing applications like Microsoft Teams.

Users will also be able to utilise the front and back cameras on their mobile devices to adjust their camera’s view quickly and easily without needing to touch their PC.

Various smartphone features can also be put to use, such as Background Blur and Autoframing, which help to maintain the optimal focus for your image no matter what your surroundings may be.

Enhanced Connectivity with Microsoft Copilot

Microsoft Copilot will enable Samsung Galaxy smartphone users to find, read, and summarise texts, as well as automatically create and send messages for you from your PC.

As a result, Copilot will also be able to offer restaurant recommendations previously made by friends in text conversations and message your significant other to find out if they would like to join you.

All of this can be performed from your PC without even needing to switch your phone on.

The Galaxy Book4 reportedly allow you to access smartphone capabilities and information faster and smarter than before.

The goal behind introducing Copilot is to make the connectivity experience so seamless between devices that it effectively feels like using a single device, easing daily task management and boosting efficiency.

According to Samsung, its ongoing collaboration with Microsoft will continue to yield new capabilities on the Galaxy Book4 series and as Copilot expands to include more applications, Samsung Galaxy devices will become increasingly intelligent.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Book4 can also be paired with other devices like the Tab S9 Ultra as an alternative monitor or the Galaxy Buds2 Pro to deliver an improved audio experience.
