Atlona Expands AV Omega Series To Empower Collaboration

Atlona has expanded its Omega Series of AV and collaboration solutions, introducing two new switchers, including audio ducking.

Atlona’s AT-OME-CS31-SA and AT-OME-CS31-SA-HDBT are two 3×1 switchers that are designed with learning and meeting spaces in mind. Both were tailored to supply amplification, AV switching, audio mixing, USB routing, and control into a low-profile solution.

Tommy Gay, Product Manager at Atlona, commented:

The Omega Series has evolved into our broadest product line, with an increasingly diverse range of switching and extension solutions to address the AV needs of any modern classroom or workspace. The OME-CS31-SA and OME-CS31-SA-HDBT bring together several key engineering strengths from Atlona across switching, audio, USB and control to offer customers all-in-one room solutions.”

Capabilities Designed for Education and Enterprise Use Cases

The switchers are equipped with features tailored for education and enterprise purposes to maintain clear delivery of lessons, announcements or speeches. These include audio ducking, which lowers programme audio levels when the instructor speaks into a connected mic system.

Additionally, the system can be muted either manually through contact closure or automatically when a school or university’s public address announcement is highlighted. Other audio functionality includes an onboard mixer for combining three line inputs, de-embedded HDMI and USB audio, as well as two 25W amplifier and line-level outputs.

More Specifics on the Technology

The AT-OME-CS31-SA is built with three HDMI ports, while the AT-OME-CS31-SA-HDBT has two HDMI ports and one HDBaseT input.

The OME-CS31-SA and OME-CS31-SA-HDBT are largely similar in feature sets but include key differences in AV switching and USB capabilities to address specific needs. The OME-CS1-SA is tailored for local switching applications and is ideal for setups where inputs are situated close to the switcher and display, such as in classrooms.

Meanwhile, the OME-CS31-SA-HDBT supports both remote and local AV switching, making it suitable for scenarios where inputs are further away from the switcher. An example might be for an instructor’s podium or when the switcher is mounted near a projector. The remote input of the OME-CS31-SA-HDBT enables the extension of HDMI, Ethernet, power, control, and USB 2.0 data up to 100 metres (330 feet).

The USB routing capabilities are appropriate for corporate and education applications. Both OME-CS31 models facilitate switching between two host devices and feature a four-port hub for connecting peripherals such as cameras, speakerphones, interactive displays, or other devices.

Additionally, automatic display control and auto-switching enable the OME-CS31-SA and OME-CS31-SA-HDBT to automate system operation across their Ethernet, serial, and trigger ports. Alternatively, they can be seamlessly integrated into environments utilising an Atlona Velocity control system.
