X Seemingly Plans To Enter The Video Conferencing Race
X is seemingly planning on entering the video-conferencing arms race.
Last week, one of X’s employees, Chris Park, shared that the company successfully held its first internal conference using a new video conferencing solution it’s apparently been working on. Park promoted it as a viable alternative to Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Hangouts, and AWS Chime and mentioned that the initial feedback from the team was positive.
X owner Elon Musk replied to Park’s post with the fire emoji in an abstract confirmation of the solution’s development.
As a result, Park outlined that X is likely to develop new features for the service, such as the ability to pin speakers and improved notifications to indicate when people join or leave the conference.
Park said:
First ever Conference meeting with some of my great @X and @XDevelopers teammates. Already a really strong alternative to Google Hangouts, Zoom, AWS Chime, and certainly… Microsoft Teams.”
The capability currently doesn’t have a release or rollout date.
Zoom Aims To Boost Meeting Engagement With Smart Name Tags
Zoom has announced the addition of AI-powered smart name tags intended to enhance meeting engagement and inclusivity.
Now, in its public beta for Zoom Rooms, these tags utilise AI to assign name tags to individuals in a Zoom Room automatically. This feature aims to elevate the virtual meeting experience by allowing remote participants to identify who is present in the room, fostering a more connected and seamless interaction.
Admins must enable the feature through the settings to utilise smart name tags. Individual users can then enrol and provide consent via their profile, allowing their name tag to be automatically displayed in the Zoom Room’s video feed. These name tags can also be edited if necessary.

Nureva Releases Advanced Control App For HDL Pro Systems
Nureva has released its advanced control app for HDL Pro series systems.
The web-based Nureva app was first announced at Infocomm 2024 and acts as a control companion to the HDL Pro series audio systems. It is now available to HDL310 and HDL410 customers at no extra charge.
Nureva pitches the Nureva App as offering a streamlined method for setting up and configuring HDL pro series systems for both audio and third-party cameras, enabling tracking and switching.
“The Nureva App makes it easier than ever for IT managers and integrators to quickly set up and configure an HDL pro series system in dynamic environments where quick in-room adjustments are essential for optimal audio performance,” said Nancy Knowlton, Nureva’s CEO. “Included at no charge, it’s the latest way we’re helping our customers get great audio performance in larger meeting rooms and classrooms while optimizing the use of their resources.”
The Nureva App is free for all HDL310 and HDL410 customers. Looking forward, Nureva intends to broaden the app’s capabilities, including support for iOS and Android devices, in Q1 of 2025.
