Miro has launched its new Innovation Workspace project and workplace management solution to enhance collaboration and productivity.
Miro pitches Innovation Workspace as an AI-powered platform that offers a flexible solution for teams to move from idea to outcome more quickly. The company argues the solution fills a critical need: “an end-to-end solution that facilitates the entire innovation process, from discovery (brainstorming and research) to definition (roadmapping and prototyping) to delivery (execution)”.
More describes the Innovation Workspace as the business’s most significant product launch since 2012.
“A common challenge among most organisations is that work happens across too many tools, there are gaps in communication which leads to many unnecessary loops, and there’s a significant lag time in decision making,” said Andrey Khusid, Miro co-founder and CEO. “These are all friction points in collaboration that, ultimately, stunt a team’s innovation potential and velocity.”
The Innovation Workspace is the first platform designed specifically to help teams rapidly navigate the twists and turns between the phases of the process and embrace creativity as a necessary and valuable part of innovation.”
Miro says it’s committed to a canvas-first approach compared to other productivity apps, which might prioritise a document or task-first strategy. Miro highlights that the canvas is unique because it provides an inclusive and collaborative environment that supports smooth transitions between unstructured work, such as ideation, and structured work, such as diagramming, documentation, task tracking, and prototyping.
Additionally, Miro explains that the canvas can support multiple media formats, ranging from text and images to videos and audio. It is also compatible with any file type, including those from the most popular productivity suites. Miro states that this versatility makes its canvas ideal for fostering creativity and collaboration in various work scenarios.
“Over the past 13 years, we’ve innovated and led the market, from introducing a digital whiteboard solution to establishing the visual collaboration category, and now – the Innovation Workspace. Through it all, we’ve stayed true to our core belief that the canvas is king,” added Jeff Chow, Miro CPTO. “That’s because the canvas gives teams an infinite, flexible space to innovate without constraints.”
More Specifics On Innovation Workspace’s Feature Set
Miro says Innovation Workspace intends to redefine the innovation process by guiding teams to innovate faster. Miro supports transitions from unstructured work to more structured formats, helping teams move seamlessly and iteratively between the phases of discovery, definition, and delivery, accelerated by AI.
New features include foundational capabilities for structured work in Docs and Tables. Additionally, AI is integrated into the workflow flow with AI-powered Sidekicks and new Intelligent Templates. A centralised hub connects a project’s critical tasks and assets, including third-party documents from Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. Miro says this hub, known as Spaces, provides shared knowledge and context-setting, ensuring that all team members are on the same page.
Meanwhile, AI-powered prototyping helps teams communicate ideas visually and validate them with customer feedback.
Miro stresses that the Innovation Workspace can be shaped and adapted to fit any organisation’s current tech stack and ways of working. It includes over 150 integrations with popular workplace applications, such as Microsoft Copilot, Adobe Express, and Glean.
Miro adds that new features for composable workflows help create valuable workflow-driven experiences on the canvas. These features include the Canvas SDK, which allows for thorough customisation, customisable widgets that hone functionality, and AI Action shortcuts that streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Miro suggests the solution also connects the dots between asynchronous and synchronous activities, helping teams make decisions faster. New features encompass intelligent widgets that make teamwork more interactive and engaging. Additionally, catch-up and video calls can be made directly on the canvas, streamlining both synchronous and asynchronous communication.
On the security side, Miro Enterprise Guard offers automatic identification, classification, and safeguarding of sensitive and confidential content within Miro. The Innovation Workspace now features built-in data discovery, including Jira and code blocks data discovery, customer keyword discovery, IP detection, and OCR data discovery. Miro suggests these advanced capabilities ensure that all critical information is securely managed and protected.
“A canvas-first approach connects teams and their work in all formats, including messaging, task tracking, documentation, virtual meetings, and data retrieval,” said Chow. “It’s a space to easily move from a set of ideas to a tangible output. Miro is where work gets done, instead of just focusing on the progress of work.”
