Crestron has been awarded the prestigious SAVe certification for sustainable AV production, deployment and management.
Sustainability in AV (SAVe), a US-based organisation dedicated to mobilising the AV industry to meet the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has announced that Crestron is now SAVe Certified. This certification illustrates Crestron’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
Christina De Bono, Founder and President of SAVe, commented:
We are thrilled that Crestron is the first manufacturer in the AV industry to become SAVe Certified. It’s a demonstration of its commitment to align with the Sustainable Development Goals and become a sustainability leader in our industry.”
Crestron achieved this milestone after participating in the SAVe Certification Program on July 18, 2024, held at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.
The event brought together over 30 Crestron employees from various departments, five SAVe representatives, and a guest speaker from Columbia’s Climate School. The day featured educational sessions on climate change, e-waste management, plastic pollution, and recycling.
These sessions were followed by a collaborative workshop in which Crestron employees devised strategies for aligning the company’s operations with the SDGs.
SAVe says that its Certification program underscores the power of cross-departmental collaboration. The organisation adds that Crestron employees participated in a dynamic exchange of ideas, fostering innovative and forward-thinking initiatives, particularly in Product Design, which is a key focus area.
This collaborative effort aspires to highlight the value of a unified approach to addressing sustainability challenges, instilling a shared sense of purpose among team members.
More Information On Crestron’s Sustainability Workshop
Crestron is now hosting a series of monthly workshops to ensure that the three pillars of sustainable development—environmental, social, and economic—are deeply embedded in its operations and culture.
Crestron outlines that these workshops are focused on key areas critical to achieving sustainability goals. The Facilities Management sessions emphasise optimising energy use, reducing waste, and creating greener workspaces. Social Sustainability workshops address community engagement, employee well-being, and fostering inclusivity.
Meanwhile, Design for Sustainability explores innovative approaches to creating products with minimal environmental impact, and the Supply Chain and Manufacturing sessions focus on responsible sourcing and reducing carbon footprints across the production process.
Through these initiatives, Crestron aims to demonstrate how structured, ongoing programs can drive meaningful change and set a standard for industry sustainability.
What Else Has Crestron Been Up To Recently?
In October, Crestron unveiled the DM NVX 384 decoder/encoder solution to streamline unified communications, collaboration and digital signage.
The 384 decoder/encoder is the newest addition to Crestron’s DM NVX AV-over-IP ecosystem, designed to deliver seamless AVoIP performance. Crestron highlights that this solution was developed to meet customer demands for greater scalability, flexibility, efficiency, and security in meeting room control and design.
Meanwhile, Crestron expanded its control apps in March by launching Crestron Control for Zoom Rooms, streamlining the user experience.
The Crestron Control App for Zoom Rooms enhances video conferencing systems by integrating Crestron Control, offering expanded functionality. This software enables users to seamlessly manage lighting, shades, AV solutions, peripherals, and the Zoom Rooms platform from a single interface, simplifying control and improving overall efficiency.
This was followed by the launch of Crestron Control for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows operating systems in June.
Microsoft Teams users can now access new room controls for their UC systems, enabling the automation of in-room meetings and presentations. This update integrates Crestron Control into Teams Rooms, extending its functionality across other platforms like Zoom Rooms, Cisco Webex, and Google Meet.
