US telco Granite has announced a partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink to become an authorised reseller of the satellite internet service.

“We are excited to incorporate Starlink into Granite’s portfolio of solutions that bring competition, choice and innovation to our customers.”

Granite President and CEO Rob Hale said.

“Backed by Granite’s dedicated team of experts, award-winning customer service and our one-stop-shop model, we are confident that Starlink’s LEO satellite service will deliver significant benefits to our customers.”

The deal will see Granite offer its enterprise customers across the US and Canada access to high-speed, low-latency internet through Starlink.

Revolutionising Enterprise Connectivity

The collaboration between Granite and Starlink represents a paradigm shift in how businesses approach their internet connectivity needs.

Starlink’s LEO satellite technology provides a unique advantage over conventional satellite internet services. By orbiting closer to Earth, these satellites significantly reduce latency and increase speeds, making them comparable to terrestrial broadband options.

By leveraging SpaceX’s advanced broadband satellite internet system, Granite can now offer reliable, high-speed internet to remote regions where traditional options have been either prohibitively expensive or entirely unavailable.

The company has also taken steps to integrate its own proprietary technology with Starlink’s offerings, creating a comprehensive solution for enterprise customers.

Combining Starlink’s satellite technology with Granite’s Managed Network Services and user-friendly portal creates a powerful, easy-to-manage network solution for multi-location businesses and government agencies.

Equally, Granite’s patented edgebootPro solution employs AI-driven capabilities to monitor, diagnose, and automate failover responses, significantly enhancing the reliability of the Starlink service.

This breakthrough allows businesses to maintain seamless operations even in the most challenging geographical locations.

UCaaS Capability Enhancement

Granite’s partnership with Starlink may stretch beyond mere reselling, however.

The Granite-Starlink partnership has significant implications for customers of the telco’s UC solutions, particularly for organisations with distributed workforces or operations in remote areas.

Granite offers a suite of UC solutions, with the core of their offerings being VoIP and cloud phone systems.

Their primary UC solution is the Hosted PBX/UCaaS, which enables seamless collaboration without the need for on-site phone system management.

Customers of the US telco’s UC solutions are now eligible to buy Starlink connectivity as part of their package of solutions with the company.

It is here that they could get a service upgrade. Buying Starlink would equate to ensuring their businesses can rely on their internet connection regardless of location or circumstances.

For companies with employees working both in an office or out in the field, this now offers the different departments the connectivity to remain in contact whilst out in areas of low connectivity.

This ability may prove crucial in circumstances like an outage due to infrastructure failure, where engineering staff in the field need to fix and test with feedback from technical staff in the office.

Starlink’s high-speed, low-latency internet mean employees in the field can now access the same robust UC tools as their office-based colleagues.

Equally, such ability to be connected to satellite internet may provide additional resilience to disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.

Granite has a Direct Route Trunks for Microsoft Teams solution, which allows users to make and receive external phone calls directly from the Teams interface, utilising any AI abilities that come with that interface.

The integration of Starlink’s service with Granite’s UC offerings means that video conferencing, VoIP calls, instant messaging, and other collaborative tools can function smoothly even in the most remote locations.

Furthermore, the reliability and speed of Starlink’s service can support advanced UC features such as real-time data sharing and augmented reality applications, opening up new possibilities for remote collaboration and on-site support in industries that previously struggled with inadequate internet connectivity.
