Intermedia intends to transform security, compliance, and data management by releasing Intelligent Archiving for its Microsoft Teams solution.

With this enhancement, Intermedia affirms that businesses can now capture, retain, and manage Microsoft Teams chat and meeting interactions alongside Unite voice, SMS, and Contact Center communications—encompassing voice, email, SMS, webchat, and other digital channels—with Microsoft 365 email integration coming soon. This aims to produce a centralised, role-based, compliance-driven repository accessible through a single pane of glass.

Intermedia stresses that this expansion offers businesses an intuitive, secure, and fully integrated solution to archive and manage comms across Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, and Intermedia services at an affordable price point. The company says that with regulatory requirements growing and enterprises handling sensitive data across various platforms, having an integrated, secure strategy to retain and manage business interactions is critical.

Irina Shamkova, Chief Product Officer at Intermedia, commented:

With Intermedia Archiving, businesses aren’t just protecting their data – they’re building an invaluable resource for AI-driven business intelligence. By enabling seamless archiving for Microsoft Teams users with Intermedia Unite, Contact Center, and M365 Email, we’re giving businesses a way to safeguard critical interactions while unlocking insights that improve decision-making, enhance customer engagement, and drive smarter business operations.”

Intermedia suggests this update means it’s the first platform to integrate Microsoft Teams, UC, CC, and archiving into a single, fully unified solution. This should eliminate the need for multiple vendors, streamlining comms management for businesses of all sizes.

More Specifics On Intermedia Archiving For Unite And Contact Center’s Feature Set

Intermedia Archiving for Unite and Contact Center aspires to provide a seamless solution for capturing and retaining communications across Microsoft Teams, Unite, and Contact Center interactions in a single, secure platform.

Expanding its capabilities, Integrated Archiving for Microsoft 365 Email (coming soon) will store M365 emails, including attachments, with future support for Gmail and Exchange. This centralised approach intends to simplify compliance and data retention.

With its “One Provider, One Solution” model, Intermedia discards the need for third-party tools, delivering fully integrated UC, CC, Teams, and email archiving. Compliance-Ready Storage ensures secure, tamper-proof retention to meet industry and regulatory requirements.

Advanced Search & Retrieval tools make it easy to locate and access archived communications efficiently. Security is a priority, with Enterprise-Grade Security & Access Controls, including encryption, SSO, and role-based permissions to protect sensitive data.

Beyond compliance and security, Intermedia says that Archiving enables businesses to maximise the value of their communications data.

By consolidating Teams, Intermedia Unite, Contact Center, and Microsoft 365 Email into a single, structured repository, Intermedia asserts that organisations can build a comprehensive data foundation that AI and analytics tools can leverage to identify emerging business trends, uncover operational inefficiencies and potential risks, and discover new revenue opportunities through customer interactions.

Intermedia Unveils ‘Industry First’ Integrated UC, CX Solution For Microsoft Teams

In January, Intermedia added contact centre functionality to its Intermedia Unite for Teams Advanced solution, which it says makes it the first in the industry to embed UC and CX capabilities directly within the Microsoft Teams platform.

Intermedia has enhanced its Unite for Teams Advanced solution by integrating advanced contact centre capabilities, transforming Microsoft Teams into a unified platform for both UC and CX. This upgrade enables businesses to manage voice, chat, SMS, and email interactions seamlessly within Teams while preserving its core collaboration features such as meetings, team chats, and group discussions.

Microsoft Kills Skype – Urges a Move to Teams

Last week, Microsoft officially announced that Skype will be discontinued on May 5, 2025, marking the end of the once-dominant internet calling service. This decision comes 14 years after Microsoft acquired Skype for $8.5 billion in 2011. As part of its evolving communication strategy, Microsoft is encouraging users to transition to Microsoft Teams, its more integrated and feature-rich collaboration platform.

To facilitate the transition, Microsoft will allow users to log into Teams using their existing Skype credentials, and contacts and chat histories will be automatically transferred.

However, Skype’s phone call functionality will be discontinued, meaning users can no longer make domestic or international calls via Skype. Any existing Skype credits and subscriptions will remain valid until their next renewal period.
